New Beretta Over/Under

Looks nice.....appears to be in 12ga only. Don't much like the forend design though. The 686 forends are better looking, IMHO.

In the case of O/Us, personally, I prefer Beretta's 20ga models more.....sleek and a pleasure to carry/wield.

Wonder if it will be as wildly successful as the UGB25 Excel ??? :p

What a disappointment after something like the

From the pictures and description this seems like a peculiar shotgun. Several features don't seem to make much sense.

And if they were serious about the gun for upland it would be in 20 gauge.

I handled a UGB25 at the last Grand in Vandalia two and a half years ago. I think there are a couple good reasons they haven't brought it onto the market yet if they ever do.

It seems quite nice. Nothing on it offended me (can't say the same for some previous new releases).

I'm curious as to how it will be priced, and where it would fall within the current models.

Funny that you mention this. I handled one a few years back, when the US Open (skeet) was in Rochester NY.

I just saw that they have arrived in the US. http://www.jaquas.com/ has them.

What I didn't like most about the UGB was how much of the mechanism is exposed to the elements. Considering we shoot in bad weather at least 4 months a year I don't see how that open mechanism and the "magazine" being open to rain or snow would help functioning.

The trigger pull was the usual 391 style, not heavy but a little mushy. The UGB is also quite heavy and handled like a stump. Maybe these things has been sorted out.

For $3500 if I wanted a semi-auto I'd probably get a 391 and have it tricked out by NCP or Angleport.

No doubt. For that kind of money, I'd be looking at other options.

I remember that there was a pretty high coolness factor. I'm sure that would wear off shortly. Having all the parts open to the Canadian elements could certainly prove to be problematic.
