New Beretta SxS 490

Some nice unique elements but probably not for the traditionalists.

Wow...what more could you want?

Checkering, engraving, non-pimp barrels and another trigger. Why have a straight-grip if you're only running a single trigger? You'd think after 500-odd years of making guns Beretta would have a better handle on things. #underwhelmed

Can't wait till one comes up on the EE.

I can see how it reads now .......... "Never fired or even looked at." :)
LOL...you guys are killing me. I am not too keen on the silver barrels or the blue receiver, but I like the sleek smooth lines. I would prefer a traditional shaped trigger guard with 2 triggers. Still like how it’s all smooth.

The more I look at it the more I like it - the flashy blue one - gasp... It is like minimalist steampunk. And i guess these aren't really new at all. Good thing these were uber-limited or I could have been headed for a divorce.

I agree about the lines. I kinda like it but it does need some traditional bluing and checkering.

I can understand how purists wouldn’t like it. My first impression was quite overwhelmed. For what it is, maybe not what it “was”, it looks impressive.

For practicality, some checkering would be nice. The straight stock is odd considering that plays more into its heritage and double triggers, both of which this gun either doesn’t have or is attempting to change.

I don’t need to know the price, but I can say it’s a beautiful gun. Well out of my price range without looking.

I think I mite order one, I will saw it off to 20” it will ride nicely behind the seat of me truck.

"Le Fudd" .......... It DOES have a certain ring to it. :)

Absolutely!

###y, right?
Ok, your le Fuddness, the action is a little unusual - but good. The other fellows in plaid have never seen such a thing but its wascally. Really really wascally good and a lot better value than that spaghetti-eater that does not come in men's we were just talking about. Vraiment Le Fudd, she is special.

I had no idea you were such a francophile, John. But you had me at "spaghetti eater"! LOL

Internet photo...I don't have any snail-eaters of my own!
Sorry for the de-rail. Guns like the 490 and the Darne above share a lack of top lever which allows the wrist to be narrower and more graceful. Both to me are beautiful (the Darne more so) and the walnut Beretta put on the serpentine is stunning of course.

Canvasback knows a thing or two about French sxs’s without top levers. His Manufrance is an example of what every sxs should strive to be. None of this top, side or bottom swing lever. When I saw his Manufrance, the first thing to come to mind was why hasnt every sxs been designed with that kind of action operation. Just stunning
