I found this slightly used Remington XCR in 375 H&H, always wanted a 375 so I picked it up. As it sits now its pillar and glass bedded in a bdl stock and has a shilen trigger in it. I bought some like new dies, brass and some bullets off here, changed the mounts to tally LW and mounted a scope.

Orded a McMillan rem classic in gap camo as well when I got the rifle.

Not sure what scope ill end up with And will do some loading when time allows. A trip to the gun Dr. Is also in order to cut it back to 22". Should be ready some time this spring.

The shorter barrel might make a difference if you are trying to max out your velocity with a very heavy bullet and a very slow powder to use at extreme ranges, the 375 H&H is better suited for shorter stuff anyway IMHO. The 20" barrel would be quite nice on a rifle like yours! Nice choice!

I have a ZKK 602 (25 +/- inch barrel) and Sako Mannlicher Carbine (19 +/- inch barrel) both 375H&H.. I dont think there is anything in North America (or probably Africa) that will know the difference when hit with a factory 270/300gr load from either one. Your ears will notice the 6 inch difference though.

Unless you throttle back and hand load some 235 Speer at about 2500fps ... in which case you can still handle anything in North America anyway and fwiw I cant say that I have found the shorter barrel any more objectionable with this load. You will find that one of the great attributes of the 375 H&H isnt just power.....they are also very accurate!

Way more handy and I'm not going to lose that many fps on the old holland. Try it some time.

It is your choice of course. I just didn't think that you had that heavy cover in which you would need a shorter barrel. Not much rain forrest in Saskatchewan! The 375 H&H is not a speed demon also, and works very well at factory velocities.
