New Browning A5

"You may notice a family resemblance, but let’s get one thing straight, this ain’t your Grandpa’s Auto-5. In fact, the iconic humpback-shaped receiver is the only thing this new Browning autoloader shares with its legendary namesake."

...and at that point, I lost interest.

The old Auto 5 was a masterpiece. As with most efforts to capture the "spirit" of a work of art, I'm left asking why they even bothered. If the new shotgun is a marked improvement over the original, sell it on its own merit. If the old design had such limiitations that you felt the need to abandon it, why tie the new product to the old horse?

:agree: It is not the same gun. A lot of alloy & plastic. The original was forged steel & walnut.

auto 5

i have a Browning auto 5 its a 1989. and its still in perfect shape,a very nice reliable shotgun. i have 30 inch brl a fixed full choke and because of the no lead thing im not sure what i should use if shooting for duck, any ideas?
could i buy a new brl with the three chokes that way i could shoot steel and not worry about doing any damage

Of the current Browning shotguns... I would go with the "semi-hump" Silver... I would order the Maxus before this new A5... I have a Silver Lightning and my son shoots the Maxus Hunter... both very nice weapons.
