I just got a BLR (w/pistol grip)in 300 win mag. Haven't been out yet with it, but soon.:D

Any scope / mount suggestions?

I was thinking of using Millett See Thru mounts with a Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40.

Would the see thru's be too high? Or, should I use a low ring? If a low ring was used would that interfere with cocking the hammer(folding type)?

Thanks

one of my blrs came with zee see thru rings. horrible, way to high to use. i use luep base and rings low with a compact 4x and med with a 2.5x8. no clearance problems when set up. these rifles were made to scope. for your elite try med rings

The hammer is wide and works ok with a low mount. Forget the see through.
two guys I told this in the past listened to the local gun store experts who installed see throughs on BLRs and they both had black eyes later. Others keep missing deer while searching for the scope.

Huntaway: When you mentioned using a see-through, I am under the impression that you have occasions to shoot short range requiring fast target acquisition.

There is a temptation to put high power scopes on a 300MW. I have a 4-12x on mine as I use mine for long distance (>150 yards). My bush gun is a Marlin 1895 with a Holosight. If you have long & short distance to cover, I strongly suggest a lower power scope. eg. 3200 2-7x with a stand Millett turn-in rings or angle loc rings. Mount the scope low to the barrel which will give better alignment and fast focus.

Cheers!

Danny
