New Browning X-Bolt

I have an A-bolt and I love it. It has a nice smooth bolt and the quality is very high for a mass produced rifle. For me it points automatically and is well balanced.
Fit is the most important thing, especially if you are getting a rifle that will have some recoil, such as a 270 or above. The fit will make the rifle the most comfortable, and that will make you want to shoot it, and that will lead to accuracy.
This has been said about a billion times on this forum, it should be a sticky. Get a gun that fits you good...and don't cheap out on the scope.
The quality is pretty similar across the board whether you choose a rem 700, mod 70, mk II, x-bolt, a-bolt etc.

Oh, you shouldn't have mentioned the cartridges. Now 40 guys and their mother are all going to start telling you what chambering you should get. The 270 WSM is a great choice for an all round hunting gun. If you find the gun comfortable then go for it. You won't be disappointed in the quality.
Remember that accuracy is over emphasized in a hunting gun. You only need one shot into your animal, not a 3 shot group. And a deer's vitals are bigger than 1". guys on here will moan and groan that they could never hunt with anything that prints groups greater than 1". When you're in the field and not on the bench it changes everything anyways. It would be very very rare to find a gun that was so terrible that you couldn't hit a deer at 100 yds

I agree with you 100%, I shot my first deer with a world war 1 303. I agree that shot placement is what matters, not the caliber.

I've been jonesing over an Xbolt Stainless Stalker in 7mm WSM since they came out...the reason I haven't bought one yet? I know I'd sell all my other hunting rifles and exclusively carry the 7mm....

I have an X bolt . Very acurate , cheaply made and the ss versions rust especially on the bolt.

I have two X-bolts - Stainless Stalker and Hunter models. I have never owned a Browning Boltgun prior to these two but the Hunter was so good I had to buy another. They are well made with excellent fit and finish, the actions are bedded and barrels floated. Everything about these rifles is impressive especially considering that they are not expensive.
A buddy of mine bought one and first trip to the range he shot about 3/4 of an inch at 100M... Maybe a touch over. I think thats pretty good considering it is his first and only rifle. I was jealous And almost stole it until i realized I couldn't run as fast as his Chevy And we had already emptied the ammo box. J/k Honestly its a great rifle, in fact We just talked my uncle into buying one for his first rifle.
Me and my friend own an X-bolt and we're very happy. I gut no rust problem with the stainless stalker (7mm rem mag) and my friend gut the medallion (300wsm) and actually we didn't have any problem at all and we did shoot around 300 round this summer. It's accurate, smooth and i find it very comfortable for a '' out of the box'' rifle.
