New Brunswick PRS style matches

Currently we’re using the rules as a general guide. I wouldn’t worry about mags, I encourage everyone to come out and shoot with the gear you have. I find people to be generous with their kit, and you may be able to try out all kinds of gear. Spare mags may make things easier, but they’re not a necessity.

I’m not planning on having any required mag changes for this match. I’m trying to keep this as an intro match and I’m trying to keep the stages relatively simple. Having said that, I think it’ll be a challenge to all experience levels.

Everyone attending the range needs a pass from Range Control for access to the Range Training Area(RTA). The passes can be picked up at the main range control office on base or from the commissionaire office at the entrance to Camp Petersville. There is no cost to the pass and it’s a simple process, but it could take a few minutes. The commissionaires office at Camp Petersville is very close to this range, it’s likely the best option for getting your pass on Sunday.

This range is taking place on range E2 in Enniskillen, located near Camp Petersville. Camp Petersville is located off exit 51 on the #7 highway between Oromocto and Saint John. If you’re not sure where it’s at, I’d suggest googling it.

To get to the range, drive out the Enniskillen road (opposite direction of Camp Petersville). Once you get past the moose gate, just keep driving straight. I’ll have a couple RNBRA signs posted. E2 is located on the right as you drive down Enniskillen rd, about 4.5km from the moose gate. Please close the moose gate behind you as you enter the RTA.

I don’t know the address for the office. It’s located at the main gate of Camp Petersville. You’ll see the building from the highway exit. It’s a small white building.

Thanks to everyone who came out today. Conditions were tough, the wind was really blowing. I made the rookie match director blunder of forgetting to gather the scorecards, so I unfortunately can’t say who had the high score. On the flip side, no one tried to pass one in either. I will make the targets bigger for next time.

Thanks to all the shooters who came out this season, I think we can make next year even better.

This was a great shooting experience - overall credit must go to the Match Director for a well setup and run range, and a very challenging course of fire. The support of the Royal New Brunswick Rifle Association was instrumental in making this match happen and is much appreciated. Thanks for organizing what was an enjoyable days shooting, the weather was good (aside from the wind), the location spectacular. I had a lot of fun and managed to miss the targets just as efficiently with my sub $1000 sporter rig shooting factory Winchester ammo, as guys with $5000+ setups with the best hand loaded stuff. So if anyone didn't come because they thought that thier kit wasn't up to the task, they missed a great day out and next time, don't worry about not having the latest and greatest, it's much more important to know your gun and load well, no matter what that might be. Just get out there and give it a try.

What a great day. The conditions were challenging but we could not have asked for a better venue for PRS style shooting.

Thanks to the RNBRA for their support. It is great to see a PRA looking to the future. These events don't happen by accident.

We’ve got a few ideas for this season. I’m still working on the scheduling, hopefully I’ll be able to post dates over the next few weeks. Also trying to organize a rimfire match or two, we’ll see how it goes.

As soon as I get dates confirmed I’ll push out the info.
