New Build in 20 Vartarg

this is my first Benchmark barrel as well so I share your eagerness to see how well it will preform. I did alot of reading on the Vartarg and what I found out was that 20-22" is the optimum barrel length for the vartarg. I might be able to help you out in the scope dept. I may have something you would be interested in. PM me for details
 
ok I went out to the range today dispite the gusty winds to do my barrel brake in. I started with 18.2gr of H4198 and upped the charge .2 grains at a time. I cleaned the barrel after each of the first three shots then shot 3 shot groups cleaning between each group. I was happy with how well it shot, I think I might have a winner here but should find out for sure on my next range trip.

I don't have a chroney so from what I have read of other people results it should be somewhere between 3700 and 3800 fps

Well did come accross a couple of posts on another site ( can't remember which one) where a couple of guys were saying that they had over 4000 rounds on there barrels and they showed no real signs of wear yet. Considering your only using 18 -19 grains of poweder I would think 5-7 thousand rounds maybe.
 
That's exactly why I built mine. Everything that you read says they get unbelievable barrel life, produce very little heat, are incredibly efficient, incredibly accurate, and are a real pleasure to shoot.
