So I have almost all the parts for my 9.3 RSM build. Rem 700 SA, PTG magnum bolt face, barrel, Manson reamer and go gauge, whidden dies ordered. Older NF 2.5-10 compact scope waiting. MDT LSS chassis. APA little btrd brake about to be ordered.

I use Talley products for my hunting rifles, but I am looking at their peep sight as a back up option. What I need help with is the front sight. I'm looking at New England Custom Gun service and their sights, they look good and are reasonably priced but how tall do I need to get the front post/ramp for this to work?

Haven't had to think about iron sights for a long time but I'm so far into this build now it just makes sense for that "oh ####" moment. So any ideas, comments? Let's hear it.

Thanks in advance, Don.

So your question is "how tall of a front site do I need to match the Talley rear flip up site"?

Assuming there is some adjust-ability in the rear flip up, try measuring from center of bore to center of flip up, then try and get the front site about 1/16th" lower to center of bore, as compared to the rear.

That would give you aprox 9" over centerline of bore at 100 yards, which is probably about 4" high there, and then dead on at about 225 yards.

My estimates may be a bit rough, but I'm guessing about 25" between front and rear sites, 1/16" x25"/3600"= 9" for 100 yards or 3600 inches, keeping in mind that your bullet drops around 5" at 100 yards from centerline of bore.

NECG sells different height front bits for their sites, so you'll be able to adjust height after with different sites and some money if need be.
