New Burris XTR III scopes

they will have a sizeable increase in cost. As stated, not an XTRII replacement but a new higher-grade model. Completely built in a brand new U.S. facility.

I’ve read that street price will be around $1700usd, so hopefully somewhere between $2300-$2500cnd. That would fit in with the Athlon Chronus/ Delta Stryker market.

I expect that like the II they will track perfectly and will deliver more in the glass department.

The XTR II that I owned was very good but suffered from a bit of chromatic aberration. Brightness and clarity were on par for the price range but not outstanding (the smaller-tubed Veracity was actually better). If the III's correct these anomalies they will be solid buys.

I'm also hoping the zero stops will be simpler. Pushing the caps into place against air pressure and locking them there was strange to say the least.

Looking forward to the reviews and hoping to take one for a test run myself.

I just recently purchased a XTRII 5-25. After looking through the scope for around 200 rounds now, it is quite apparent they put all effort and quality into the mechanics, and zero into the glass. I should have just saved myself the hassle and went with another Tangent Theta, or Schmidt and Bender. Unless they improve the quality of the glass in the XTR 3, I wouldn't even consider paying $2500 when I can get a S&B 5-25 for just $1200 more. $2500 scopes that should be in the $800 category is the reason I wont even look at a Vortex anymore. Expensive garbage everywhere now a days.

The early reviews of preproduction models by some experienced guys in another forum look really good. The glass is supposed to be much improved over the XTRii (which I have no experience with). I’m excited for the 3-18x if it ends up being as good as they say/I hope. Would be great on a precision AR/large frame AR/or a short & handy tactical bolt gun. I feel like there’s a bit of a hole in the market for good mid power variables with a tactical/precision feature set.

Not many optics at $1500 price range, that are great. If the PST2 had better quality control it would help. At least it has a nice reticle, and turrets and zero stop. Nightforce SHV F1 is not perfect either, short eye relief. XTR2 poor glass, Athlon Ares BTR is somewhere in there, but the ETR is the better one, but more money of course. Nikon FX1000 cheaper but sorta plain with less that stellar glass. SIG Whiskey5 may be ok, never see them around, don't think they warranty the electronic parts very long. All my opinion of course. Where is Leupold in all of this. Seems like they have nothing that fits in here. Lots of nice and clear hunting reticles, about it.
Higher end glass is always a better choice, however most people have a hard time coming up with 2-$2500 for one optic, (including me) let alone for all your rifles.
That 3-18x XTR3 zoom range is exactly what I would want.

I wonder if they are going to bring out a new 1-8x in the XTR III line. The XTR II I have has pretty nice glass, but also made in Japan by LOW instead of the Phillipines like the 5-25x.

I like Burris equipment generally ... their scopes, red dots and hardware (rings, bases).
A notch or 2 up the quality scale from Bushnell and Weaver and several notches above Tasco and Simmons.
Their Fastfire 3 is a fantastic red dot optic.
Any Burris scope I have owned has performed well and reliably.

I also have zero issues with Burris.

Their Warranty is bullet proof.

I recently broke a Burris Oracle Bowsight 100% user fault....

I paid shipping to repair facility in Canada , they shipped to Burris got it back in 4 or 5 weeks repaired 100% FREE and they paid return shipping.

Is their glass as good as NF, S&B etc....NO.

But it's usually 50% of cost.

I eagerly await a 5th Gen Eliminator. I have the 3 model. The only thing missing is a little better quality glass.

The laser rangefinder, ballistics calculator is quickest on the market for anyone wanting to take a long range shot at targets out to 900 meters. It will range animals that far. Reflective targets 1200-1300 meters(way farther than anyone should be shooting at a game animal).
