There's no calibre restriction, you just can't use a rimfire for big game. Wolves & coyotes are covered under the small game licence, but you need to buy a seal in some units.

also, if you want to hunt coyotes with it during an open big game season, you have to have a license for whatever big game is in season......

For Ontario 6.5x55 is great round that can cover wide range of applications but for some reason it dont see much use.
