new canadian made 1911

I almost had one,I was probably the first to order in early January.I order a 1911 in 40 s&w he said it would take about three month to finish,so I get a email that my 40 s&w 1911 was ready and I ask for a picture of the gun and it looked very nice.I gave the information he needed to purchase the gun then I get a call the next day that he made a mistake and the gun they built for me was in 9mm and not 40 s&w but he would throw in a compensater for free if I took the 9mm.I said I didn't want the compensater (because I hate the look of it)so I said if you drop the price $150.00 I would take the 9mm even though it wasn't the caliber I ordered three month earlier,he replied that it was no problem and we had a deal. That was about five month ago and I never heard back from him again after many times trying to contact him. That was my experience with canstar arms.

sounds promising all right

so is this a real company or what ? I emailed them today with some questions... and then decided, well just call their # and see what's up... it was after hours so left messege.
though I can only see photos for now, it seems that they would be slightly overpriced for the moment, as you can by a STI Trojan for approx. $1200 +/- and STI guns are good guns.. and others for this price range or less... so buying canadian is good thing, but has to be good quality and competatively priced too.
and are these guns match grade or basic ? will one buy one and have to still spend $$ to upgrade ?
website has no descriptions of models... so ? and guy above has oredered one and been ignored. if true, what a great start...

yup..no kidding.

Have 2 and love them! No issues with the order at all. I'm wondering if everyone's issues were with a bad startup, supply exceeding demands? Anyways, I phoned, asked my questions, made my order and mine were ready within 2 weeks. He mentioned that there's a western Canadian distributor coming on line also, fingers crossed.

Anyone got one yet?

Pictures or it doesn't exists :)

I wonder how they do vs high end DLASK or Brown/Baer/NHC/Wilson....

I'll try to post pics this week, I can assure you that they do in fact exist, as can my pocketbook, lol.
I can't give any reviews as far as durability, etc because as I said, I only got mine recently but so far they're great functioning works. The fitment is beautiful, components are top notch and the accuracy is also very good but I did order both of mine in 6" models which certainly helps.

Pics to follow soon :)

X2 on the question of Rivalen, how to they compare with the top tier brands?

Well I did my homework and then spoke to the company owner who referred me to the fellow setting up in Western Canada. All the internals are high end, wolff silicone springs, adj trigger, full length guide rod, checkmate mags, BoMar adj sights, etc. The slide, barrel and frame are from his own forgings, all machined in house and hand fitted, ramped polished match barrel, match grade bushing. The finish is flawless and I think either of mine would stand up to any of the other top tier brands out there. I'm not going to get into a pissing match with the "mine is better" crap because I haven't used any of the other guys top tier pistols. I can only say that I have zero complaints and that I'll post reviews as time goes. Only time will tell as far as how they stand up, one is getting far more use than the other but thus far I have had no feed issues, no jams, no stovepipes, nothing but a big smile.

Will do, I'm on the road right now so no access to them but when I'm back I'll take pics and post them for certain. I'll dig up the Western rep's contact info and see if he has a website up yet also in case anyone wants to contact him directly. I'm sure there are answers that I can not provide that he probably can.

Please posts pics when you get a chance!

Finally got a chance to take a couple of quick pics for the doubters. They do actually exist but I'll give you that dealing with Canstar directly is a nightmare!

Did they forget to finish machining the trigger guard? Wtf?

Are you referring to the square trigger guard on the challenger pistol? It's supposed to be like that, it's a more comfortable rest for your finger when not on the trigger and is an option offered on many pistols these days such as the CZ's, Beretta's, Glocks, Sig's and others.
