New Canadian Model CZ 858

So much political hate in this post about a cz 858.....im sad that we live in the same province!

anyways i really am considering another 858 with wood and a patriotic maple leaf! i like my fab outfitted rifle but wood has a classic communist look

I guess you must have felt insulted by my hatred of the Looney Left.;)

Do all dealers sell this cause they LooK CooL!
I really like that maple leaf :D

A lot of dealers did presales, but they sold out quick. Some dealers didn't do the presale thing, and that is where you can score them.

I ordered mine from Calgary Shooting Centre, and P&D also had them in stock, so check those if you want one. Shipping from CSS was very reasonable, but P&D seems to be undercutting the MSRP by 25 or 30 dollars.

How long was the wait for yours? I'm considering ordering one, but I don't want to have to wait months to get it.

Ordered it in March or April when it was first announced, but had to wait for the shipment to arrive. It kept getting delayed, but apparently the next shipment will be mid November.

I thought they were supposed to have that same ugly grey finish that the old ones had. Mine seems to have a much darker, almost black finish. Does anyone else notice this?

I sold my old one over a year ago, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Just picked mine up. It is a very dark grey.

Got mine today.

Stripped it and realized there was somthing jamming the firing pin from within the bolt. A little piece of metal was taken out after I stripped the bolt. Its almost like a little metal flake from the milling work.

Pretty strange and I've never seen this from any other guns I've bought new.

I'm not sure if this type of rifle could slam fire but with the firing pin jammed in the forward position it could have been a prime candidate for it.

This highlights the need to strip, clean, and inspect all your new toys before playing with them.

I took pics of mine right out of the box using available light in my apartment. It's a nice gun and I've shot it since (after stripping and cleaning). Very accurate with the irons the way they are. I didn't remember how light a gun these things were but it is pretty feather weight (especially with the aluminum magazines). As for the Maple Leaf marks, they look pretty but they are not exactly art. Still glad I got it.
