How is the new Canadian Ranger rifle holding up with the different Ranger patrols , are they for the most part satisfied , or has some weakness or flaws showing up since its use in the north

Bloke on the Range (youtube) did an update after his rifle got it's sites replaced. The original sites were wonky and it shot poorly. Shoots much better now. Any word whether the Ranger issue guns had this same problem?
Amazing that such an expensive gun could have such poorly made irons.

Yes, I saw that Bloke on the Range had issues with both front and rear sights , you would think for the big $$$ tag each rifle has this would not have shown up, and had better quality control, to be fair though , the Blokes rifles was a Finnish made Tikia , not a Colt Canada C19 rifle. at least that’s what I understood it to be , as he mentioned he had to order parts from Finland

The rangers i have talked to so far have given then high praise.....im not sure if they are holding up the best but sometimes its nice to have something new....a few of the older guys said they preferred the Enfield but mostly because they had modified their old guns one even had a pistol grip set up on his.

Not amazing that something sold to a government had at least some part of it poorly made.

Speaking with a member of 4 CRPG recently, he was extremely pleased with his C19 courtesy of the Crown. High praise from a former airborne light infantryman turned Canadian Ranger.

It would be nice if Colt Canada offered the C19 for general sale. Just leave off the Ranger badging for civilian sales.

but then less tax dollars would be spent in contract exclusivity.....your sense is not liberal. Your darned right it would make sense for a Canadian Business to make and sell products that Canadian's and people from other markets may want but that isn't industry strangling and government subsidy building situation that our government wants anymore....

I can actually see down the road news stories being pumped about Military grade weapons (bolt action C-19's) in Civilian hands as the campaign against bolt action firearms with magazines....

My patrol has only had ours for a couple months. I like them so far but can't really comment on how they're holding up. My only gripe is that the first round is tough to chamber from a full mag; that will hopefully improve as magazines break in more. As is I only load 8 rounds for field use to ensure I don't have any hiccups if I need to use it in a hurry. I heard about a couple minor issues with the first batch, but all seem to be corrected now.

Oh... The red stock bleeds a bit when wet too. It made for slightly colourful hands on a wet range day.

More like what's in it for Tikka? It wouldn't surprise me if maybe it was part of the deal that the ranger rifles could be made in Canada if Tikka could sell this model around the globe advertising them as being the rifle of the Canadian Rangers.

The tikka offering is not the c19 and not milspec. They are visually similar, but not the same parts, not even made in the same factory.

Ok, so the stock is a different colour.

Care to explain what exactly is different that isn't "mil spec' that is true on the ranger rifle.

And I mean

C19 vs the Tikka T3x Arctic ?

Can't comment on the Colt Canada manufactured C19, but the civilian Tikka Arctic version has so far been excellent. Over a year and several hundred rounds through, love the trigger, quality is superb, and the sights and accuracy have been much appreciated. I'm not understanding all the hate, but to each his own. Love your CZ? Awesome, happy shooting to ya. The Arctic is more than your usual Tikka but in every way I can tell it's better too. They should have branded it a Sako.

Colt canada doesnt own the intellectual property for the C19. It's owned partly by dnd and partly by tikka. Colt isnt licensed to make them for other clients.

Dimensions. Alloys, tolerance drawings, finish... it's not the same gun. Not made in the same country, not made on the same machines, not made to the same qa/qc standard.

The tikka is to the c19 as a bushmaster AR15 is to a c7.

Its academic though, no civvy can own a real c19. Literally none are in the civilian market, and they never will be because of the contractual legalities.

Just took a look at this rifle. Looked cool. Looked up the civy version at cabelas.....laughed my @$$ off at the price tag, and it no longer peaks my interest.

Yeah I know what you are talking about. Mine does the same thing. I believe the magazine lips are too long. When bolt carries round forward it has to go to far in the horizontal plane and then while still held by the mag feed lips projectile hits feed ramp and wants to climb but is held back....upward magazine pressure also contributes to the problem. As mag spring pressure is reduced after rounds are fired...feeding becomes easier.
Quality control???
Mine was issued and mag would not lock into place. Stock spacers had to be installed between stock and action.....again another missed quality control issue.
Heard Colt Canada was behind the 8 ball with the C19 replacement program....rushing things thru to make deadlines otherwise penalties would be issued.
