New cartridge from Hornady> .308 Marlin Express!

I have tried the lever revolution ammo in the 30-30 and it is impressive indeed. This new cartridge uses the new bullet in a new case with a blend of the new powders.... the numbers look good compared to the factory .308 offerings. They are saying the same old, same old... accurate, less recoil, near .308WIN power. If it is all true... and I have no reason to suspect otherwise from Hornady/Marlin, then I am truly impressed.

Hornady has had real good luck with their new developments as of late.
Lever Revolution ammo, the .204 Ruger...etc.
I am trying to think of some of the more recent failures.... drawing a blank.

SC, don't forget to add the brand spankin' new .375 Ruger to the pile!
Thanks Ultradrag ....... I forgot about the 375Ruger. It should be at the top of the list with the 375 Steyr. :dancingbanana:

6mmRem should be there as well.

I wouldnt call a handful of those failures....
Maybe some are good calibers, but they did fail to sell.

The 280 is the best one on the list. It should be right up there with the 30/06.

If they Chamber it in the Laminate Stainless 95/336 I would look into one......
Not sure what for though ?
Got a 30-30 and a 308...does one really need something in between:confused:

At any Rate New Rifles and Chamberings are Great....
Beats the Hell out of watching the Firearm Industry stagnate and go down the tubes :)

I'm curious about the performance with reloaded rounds. If you need the hornady ammo to produce close to those numbers, that kind of limits its use.

I'm not sure sales are a fair assessment of all the calibres success.

Some cartridges are more of a specialty class. They hold their own when compared to other chamberings in that class. Not fair to measure them against something like a 30 06 or 7 MM Rem Mag's sales. Not much sense in all the manufacturers chambering all their bolt models in a bush cartridge.... Their sales are low because of the limited rifles built for that cartridge.

If I were to use the sales logic than the only successful bush cartridges would be the 30 30 and the 45 70....

I totally agree that sales are only one indicator of the success of a caliber. There are many calibers on that list that are excellent, but either dupilcate another more popular caliber or are just outright ignored by shooters for no good reason.
