New Cartridge??

.30-30 power in an AR, what an amazingly innovative idea, oh wait the 7.62x39 already covers that and the ammo is cheaper and will be around for ever. With a name like the .30 RAR how could it possibly fail.
 
Brings meaning to "bring new stuff out or lose market share". Their ballistic chart for it puts it in .30-06/.308 125 grain MV range, not .30-30. Far higher than a 7.62 x 39.
"...Perhaps Remington’s engineers should simply have applied themselves to producing a proper (i.e. 100% functional) 7.62×39 magazine..." Good one. Doesn't give their ballistics engineers anything to do though.
A very short action, 20" barrel, bolt action or conventionally styled, 20", semi-auto, chambered in it would be interesting. Still an American 7.62 x 39.
 
The cartridge probably doesn't have the slope of the eastern cartridge and may have a longer neck, which are good qualities from a reloading/accuracy standpoint. I don't see much dif. between it and the .30 BR. or the .308X 1 1/2", the .30 br. is the fav. in some benchrest circles, esp. CBA matches. The new round may also be close to some of the new .30s like the T.C....anyhow .30 cal. is getting way to crowded!!
