new Cheap 22lr Bolt Action Accurate?

My accurate/cheap .22 bolt action is a Marlin 925. The only mod I carried out was a light "bic" pen spring which fixed the otherwise heavy trigger, took 20 minutes.
Very accurate and reliable rifle, responsible for filling the freezer with lots of headshot yummy Squirrels.

Go to any gun show and bring home a wheelbarrow full for $75 to 100.
Or even better, an auction. Get a half dozen for $25-$40 each.
Most auctions, there are so many cheap .22's, the last few go for next to nothing - the auctioneer is begging for bids.

No, there are three reasonably local to me here in Southern Ontario.
25 minutes to the Landsborough auction, less than 2 hours to Simpson's, and about 3-4 hours to Switzer's.
The only other one I know of is the Bud Haynes Auction in Alberta.
You can put in absentee bids. I got a Browning T-bolt at the last Switzer auction with an absentee bid, got a great deal.
Silly as it sounds, absentee bids on cheap .22's would work. Better than on the more expensive guns. I always figure it's tough to outbid someone that has the chance to inspect the gun. But on .22's, specially cheaper non-collectable ones, there seems to be a maximum the casual buyer will pay.
Talk to the auctioneer about condition, put in a max. bid of $50 on a bunch of the decent guns. If one isn't a good as you hoped, the others will make up for it. Shipping will be spread over several guns instead of one. Also, no taxes on out of province, should help pay for the shipping.

On rimfirecentral, quite a few guys are impress by their Norinco copy of the Anschutz rimfire rifle... $239 sounds reasonable
But as other members have already said, you'll get more value for your $$ with a used firearm.

A friend of mine bought a Savage (Model 64?)
Bought it in the morning, drove the new rifle to the range opened the box.
From here on out it was like cheating. I was tack driving holes in holes from bench rest all day long... so accurate I had more fun trying to miss
