I am considering purchase of one of these from Wanstall's in Maple Ridge, BC and just wondered if anyone has any experience with them. I still like the look and feel of the arched mainspring housing and the short trigger.

When working part time i sold two in six months.. both came back with factory defects and had to be sent back to the factory. The first had an improperly fitted safety that didn't work, the other had a defect with the sights. One colt replaced after we sent it back (improper safety fit), the other they allowed us to steal parts from a third new colt, to replace the defective ones on the second, and returned the doner so the buyer didn't have to wait 9 months to get his pistol back. Pretty sure he sold it the next week and bought either a kimber or a remington, i can't remember.

Get it before they come with UN import markings...

I like the 1911a1 pattern myself. Short trigger and arched housing sets it nice in my hand for shooting it as was intended - with one hand.

The new series 70 will need trigger work, but is otherwise nice. I want to retrofit the old style safety and wide spur hammer to mine someday

I've owned two...bought NIB ...one blued and another in stainless.

A truely breathtaking masterpiece in my opinion. Such a classic Colt, the custom shop Series 70 Reproduction

Get it ;)

I have a 70 series myself. Great gun. Built quality is fantastic. Mine has a match barrell and the accuracy is simply fantastic.

I should add mine isn't an S70, its an S80 (Super .38). Not very fancy, its got polished flats, long trigger and flat plastic msh. The trigger is noticeably different, and it shoots well. The fit is good, I wouldn't change a thing on this pistol.
