New Colt Carry Handle?

One thing I still don't get though is why does the US Army and CF still issue the 1960's era 4 position CAR stock when the standard 6 position AR stock is so much better ergonomically and just as reliable, or for that matter, the Magpul MOE or CTR stock would be better still.

The original stock was 2 position not 4. C8's had a 2 position stock until the last SARP that brought in the C8HBFT, SFW and C7A2.

Affirm. The C8s the ship issued to us for carriage on the helo a few years ago were plain jane original models as recce describes. Pencil barrels, 2-position aluminum stocks, iron sights on a fixed carry handle, etc. We also carried C7s (not A1s or A2s) and up until leaving my unit last summer, were doing PWTs on the C7.

It's all old school in the Sea King.;):D

Like this one?
14.5 thin barrel, with fixed carry handle, 2 position stock with the nefarious tri-ad. The aluminum stock will go on, but it's tight. I didn't want to scratch the tube for this wall hanger.
I love the weight of this gun.

Darn close. But no tri-ad (looks like yours has a sling loop and a different charging handle too). For it's intended use, I quite enjoyed the C8. Something about simplistic beauty and no-frills effectiveness.

That said, I don't tote these for a living and we would have only been pulling these out in a SHTF scenario. So I'll add the standard disclaimer that these are my opinions only for my situation only...I'll happily defer to those that use this tool on a daily basis.;)

We now return to the original thread and apologize for the derailment.

Nice Clone Koldt - where did you get the lower engraved like a Diemaco?
It's like a lot of the crap I pick up: overcome, adapt and improvise. I figured the company wouldn't sell, so,,,,,,, the next best thing. It's actually old news. I posted these three here, C7, C8, C8A2, about 5 years ago. I change the configuration around every now and then when I get bored.
Like this one below, old lower, with a new upper. It's got that multi coloured Christmas feel to it. I still have to grind off that finger bump on the grip. I hate em.

I don;t think I ever did read about where they were done - Dlask? As for the grips, why not just get some M16A1 grips - tons of them on Gunbroker right now and most sellers ship to Canada :)
