When I thought I could not bear the suspense any more, my package finally arrived. In Oct. 2009 I contacted a gentleman in Florida thru Guns America on this Colt Presentation Grade 1911. It took a couple of months to pay for it and during that time I shopped around for an importer. Clay at Prophet Piver Arms had the lowest fees and the quickest response to my inquires. Clay was given notice on Nov.29 that I was ready to start the process. My Colt arrived at my house on March 3.
This model is a limited run of the 1911 that was made during WW1. It has Colt level "A" engraving and is finished in Colt Royal Blue. Factory ivory grips and a wooden presentation box with red lining are included as well. There is a certificate included for Colt to engrave 3 characters of my choosing on the MSH.
I am sorry for the quality of the photos and will post better ones along with pictures of the accessories in a couple of days. Many thanks to Clay and Prophet River Arms for making this a painless and hasselfree endeavor.

Well I am very Jealous..............

Super nice, Congrats to you:cool:

Let us know how it shoots......:p

I have a Combat Elite that my wife bought from Arms East last year for my BD. I think I will shoot that one. This one can sit on the throne for a while.;). By the way NAA, thanks for the tip on an Akita. There was a bit of hit and miss for a while but a beatiful 18 month female moved in with us a month ago.

Hey 1911 CF, what a great piece! Its not only a Colt - ITS THE ORIGINAL!!!! :rockOn:Also recently got a Combat Elite (from the EE) but unlike your household, its still a secret from the wife. She surely will find out soon enough when she sees the bank statement.
Are all of us 1911 guys into dogs too! :agree:Let's see, you scored a pristine WWI keeper and now have a great Akita to further protect the home. AHhhhhh - good living - our favorite guns and dogs - all under one roof. (for me it may be the roof of the doghouse when the boss finds out about my recent purchases)c: Happy shooting fellas!!!

Colt Fan, you're a man with refined taste! In my humble opinion, that's the most beautiful piece currently available from Colt.
I was very temted to buy this one but I choose to get the Colt Talo WW2 and the Colt WW1 Black Army replica instead (O1970MA & O1918), and for about the same price tag.
I haven't got them yet but I'm confident that Clay will have them delivered to my door in record time.
I may order the O1918PG next time once I get my two other Colts and if it's still available. Any idea on how many units will be produced?
There's also a nickel plated version available but I've never seen any pictures of it yet (O1918PGN). Congrats on your purchase and I can't wait to see more pics of your new safe queen.

Don't forget to also post some pics of this marvelous Colt on the 1911's thread. Beauty queens deserve to be seen!!

Thanks for the PM Colt Fan,

Here's a few pics I found of the nickel version(O1918PGN). It's nice but I still prefer the Royal blue finish.
