Today I took my brand new csa 7.62x39 out for the first time with some non corrosive norinco ammo i had around for my sks and it jammed up maybe 12 times in 200 shots.....is it the ammo or the gun? the bullets got jammed half way into the chamber

By "jam" do you mean it's not feeding? If so, when? When you close the bolt after reloading or at other times?

Is your gun well lubricated?

Details, man. Info is required to diagnose your malfunction.

Was the ammo soft point? Had a very similar issue with my svt-40. But with surplus ammo no problems. Or you may have to polish the feed ramp lightly to remove any imperfections

it was doing it when i was reloading and at random times while firing.....could have had more oil i guess....and yea not feeding fully into the chamber....it was the non corrosive norc ammo from lever in two spam cans

i would try different ammo. if the same thing happens then it would be the gun. a budy of mine was givin 500 rounds of 45 acp norinco ammo and he wont even use it because it failed so many times.

do you just have to clean it immediately? i haven't used corrosive but i always clean my guns after a day of shooting when i get home

corrosive ammo is only water soluble. you have to clean it with hot water first (hot water drys better). then clean it like you normally would with solvents .

Make sure it's well lubed and shoot it some more.

Occasionally some break-in may be required to smooth out the finish on the receiver rails.

That chinese ammo from Lever Arms is actually corrosive, They are false advertising .. I ruined a SKS with that ammo from those bastards , there a thread on CGN somewhere about that ammo , beware and clean your rifle pronto! Usually any ammo packed in spam cans from a comblock country is corrosive ..

While this doesn't speak for jams while firing, I see a lot of people ride the CZ action forward when reloading and often times the nose of the bullet will catch and jam it up. I tell them to slam that ##### home. It's not a Faberge Egg.

And if it is a brand new rifle, it might jam here and there for a little while until everything seats properly.

EDIT: I'd check that ammo you're using....I think I read on here that the stuff is actually corrosive!

I had same feeding issues with my CSA. It just needed a bit of a breakin period to smoothen the reciever rails. Now it runs great.

Let the bolt go ! Let it do its thing and really pull that round up into the chamber... I had the same issue with my sks when I got new mags... The mags are tight and if I didn't let the bolt slam shut then it would jam up a little... Just had to wear em in..

well i cleaned my rifle immedietly yesterday....full strip down haha....i dont know why lever would advertise it as non corrosive what a buncha wieners....gunna try some other surplus ammo thats not chinese....corrosive or non i always clean my rifle the day of shooting with g96

I pour a mixture of simple green and hot water down the bore with a trans fluid funnel then just straight hot water ,let dry then run a few oiled patches down the bore ..

I had the same experience with my .223 CSA. During the first 2-300 rounds there were the occasional FTE/FTF, but they smoothed out an now she's running like a dream.

You don't have to water your gun if you oil it after cleaning

Yeah, actually you do - corrosive salts from the priming compound used in this ammunition will cause rust and corrosion to form under the oil. Water (as hot as humanly possible) dissolves the salts, oil simply encapsulates the salts and holds them against the metal.

OP - did this happen with one mag, or all mags - you might have some mag lips that need tweaking.
