so I'm just about in the final process of building my dream rifle. the rifle is a 300 win mag, in a rem 700LA. Its sitting in a McMillan edge, McMillan hunter stock. barrel is a shillen, 24", #3 contour. I built this rifle to be my all around deer, elk, sheep etc rifle. with that said I'm not sure what colour to paint the barrel/action. the stock is olive, with a black and tan speck. I'm leaning to do something a little different and paint the barrel and action tan in colour, but theres not a lot of colour combos like this that I can look at and decide if I will like it. I believe the paint is a bake on ceracote. so if anybody has a custom rifle with some different paint jobs that wants to share post up your custom rifle or rifles! thanks for the read and happy new year.

Not my cup of tea, but good for you that you are pursuing your dream....

Have you thought of going through BC cerakote?.... much better finish than any paint will offer and extremely durable..... affordable too.....

my gunsmith is doing the cerakote. ive had a few rifles from him and the finish is very good, im not sure what the finish is but I will look into it. just have to decide on a colour.

Sounds like a custom rifle you'd see on the 24HourCampfire. Should hunt though, so long as the 'smith is good. Look forward to seeing pics of it.

I have seen a couple AR's done with a combo of burnt bronze and armour black. Used the bronze around edges that would show wear, with black on the rest of the metal. Gave a very nice vintage look. I wouldn't mind trying that sometime.

I had a look on the bc ceracote page and saw some nice looking rifles. I do like the burnt bronze colour, but I'm leaning towards a coyote tan. it will somewhat match the colour of an elk, which will be the main animal I hunt. still have a couple weeks to decide.

I did a build a few years back, a coupler of thoughts...

I'm not a Remington fan, but if you are, good for you sounds like a nice rifle. I did a Pacnor #4 sporter contour 26" barrel in 338wm based off a New Haven Model70 SS Classic action, I also put a McMillan Hunter Stock on as well as a number of other mods. I have no regrets other than I fluted the barrel, I'm just not sure if it would have shot even better without the barrel fluting.

As far as the build, knock yourself out understanding that you will never get your money out of it. Sounds like a nice rifle and I wish you well.

I had a 300 win mag built on a 700 action, #2 Gaillard barrel finished to 24", with a removable muzzle brake. It is sitting in a McMillian Hunter Edge stock (McMillian Hunter Configuration). I topped it with a Leica ER 3.5-14X42. I didn't paint the rifle.

The rifle was built by a gunsmith here in ON. I am very pleased with the rifle.

Here is my custom built 300 WM.
It's my go to rifle and favorite caliber.
The 2-12 VX6 scope is impressive

Here is a P14 in 303 British, I built this winter.

And this is a RugerM77,Mark1 in 25-06, that I built back in 1999. I built the barrel with Bevan King. This was my first barrel that I made. The boyds stock was installed last winter.
