I just bought a new CZ 452 varmint, help me choose a scope.

Please note that this gun is walking the bush for grouse at short range, some gophers, and lots of just fun stuff.
The prime mission for the 452 is not bi pod shooting 125 meter gophers. I have a .204 ruger for that.:)
Cause of the close range grouse hunting and walking the bush I do not want a heavy, real high power scope.

I was thinking a 2x7 Leupold rimfire.

Opinions??????

I found that the 3x9x by 40 scopes the most useable both in the bush and close-up....using 3x close and long 150 yarders with the 9x. It is easier to locate game with the larger viewing field.I use them on my .22s and big bore rifles. this is my 2 cents. Many others have thier own opinions and I respect thier choices.

I have (or had anyway) a simmons 3-9x40 scope on my CZ 452 for hunting/general plinking. Worked great! 3x was ually what I had it on for hunting and than I would usually go to 4 or 5X for the plinking.

Currently, I have a Tasco Varmint 2.5x10 on mine but I will be replacing it with a Falcon Menace when it arrives. If you go the Tasco Varmint route stay away from the 6-24 version as it is very dark...

long range vs short range scopes...

I thought this topic would bring out more debate.
So many guys like there big hi power scopes.

For the $ of a bushnell hi power I can buy a leupold 2 X 7.;)

Personally I would stay away from the Bushnell scopes. Buy a Leupold and have great transferable warranty.

I bought a used weaver V12 for under $100 and mounted it on a 452 american, and I really like it and the classic look with the gloss steel. The 2x7 leupold would be a nice setup too I'm sure.
