I just bought a new CZ 858-2 rifle from Ellwood Epps and I am super excited to get it out to the range this weekend! I was amazed at the quality of this rifle and the handling, this is my first AR type rifle and they feel very nice to point and shoulder. I wanted an AR15 but I cant justify spending $1500 on a rifle in my current situation. At half the price ($699) the CZ-858 looks like a really nice bargain. It also shoots a dirt cheap round, I mean $200 for a crate of 1120 rounds :runaway: I would be crazy not to!!!

How are the current owners of these rifles liking them? I just want to hear some opinions and stories from the owners who have these rifles. Thanks

I just gave in and purchased one here locally.

Same price but since I already have a SKS, i saved on the ammo

GOSH!

I noticed my front sight is a bit to the left... normal? **I haven't fired a round yet**

I'll also be heading to Epps for mine! Just saving up my pennies for it.
Did you get your ammo crate at epps as well? or somewhere else?

Nice rifle.

There's just a few things you need to remember to keep it that way.

- Rinse the bore with boiling water when you run corrosive ammo
- Scrub the chamber with acetone containing solvent when you run lacquered cases
- Get me another beer

That'll get you the following

- no rust
- no stuck cases (Of which we have seen a rash lately)
- Peace Prize!

Congrats on the new rifle. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Love my Cz858 i think you'll be very surprised with the accuracy potential of this carbine. imho its much more comfortable to shoulder than an AR15, but that's just me. ammo is dirt cheap, and there are starting to be more and more accessories and furniture you can play with.

Like Exoce said, just make sure to clean the barrel out well after you shoot the corrosive stuff, and keep the internals well oiled..have fun!

I went back and forth for a while before I got one ( Non rest version from site sponsor Reliable here in Vancouver ) and I'm really liking it. Very accurate ( for what it is ) super easy to strip and clean and while not quite as ergonomic as an AR still, nevertheless, a sweet handling rifle. The more I use it the more I'm liking it.

My rifle is perfect for me. I went a little overboard on the NEA/Fab stuff but ended up with exactly what I wanted and was still far less than an AR. Enjoy!

I purchased one from wolverine supplies about a month ago and it s one of my favourite new toys i have put about 400 rounds down the pipe without one problem and your right about ammo being cheap also i because i have had an sks for about fifteen years i felt i needed a new red rifle

They are the best rifles out there for the money right now,,,,,just be sure to clean it well after using corrosive,,,,,guys I've never used boiling water/acetone/windex or any of that crap on mine ( I have two of them) and have never had problems,,,I personally think using all that #### is overboard,,, but to each his own right??,,I'm not saying it's wrong.
I mean these are military grade rifles,,,can you imagine soldiers running around looking for hot water or windex after every skirmish or firefight???
Enjoy your guns!!!!

dude! you're from the Wack too?
We need to hang out and shoot out CZ together!

I personally have never cleaned my SKS or my other 7.62x39 rifles with hot water.
I've always used CLP/Break-Free to clean all my rifles. (that's what I've been taught when I was in the Army)
SKS looks fine after 3 years of shooting corrosive and I think the CZ shouldn't differ that much?

Awesome, just got back from the range today and fired off 200 rounds of Czeck surplus ammo with 2 misfires. The trigger made a "click" and there was a mark on the primer but they just didnt go bang. Overall me and a buddy of mine had a great time, seems like an accurate enough rifle for under 200 yards. Now I got it home and it was really dirty so I gave it a good bath with boiling water and some G96, made a few boresnake passes and ran the rod and brush that came with it down the bore some more. I have a few questions about this rifle for the experienced guys.

1. When you dump boiling water down the bore either from the muzzle back or the chamber foward you are bound to get some water in the trigger mechanism area. Do you guys take off the hole trigger group too to do the cleaning, or can I just dab the inside trigger area dry and leave it upside down to run out?

2. I own an SKS sight adjustment tool, is the sight the same on the 858 and can I use the SKS tool for the front sight?

1. If it's boiling water, don't worry about a few drops. Use a funnel to get it into the chamber and it will heat the metal up enough to dry it out quickly. Shake out any puddles and go on with your cleaning.

2. The sight is not the same, but it works the same and you can use that tool.

Those CZ-858s sure look cool. I really hope the RCMP doesn't add them to the prohibited list, just because they look like AK47s. I would like to get one eventually, when I get into rifle shooting.
