New CZ 858-2 Owner!!!

d:h:
I just reached the 750 round mark on my cz i have never had a miss fire and i have no paint peeling my sight was way to the left out of the box but it shoots great i love this rifle

My first firearm and cannot for the life of me figure out how to adjust the sight. Just cannot handle it being way off to the left like that. Any help would be great. Also if it is the sight base how do I adjust that? The booklet is not all that clear. Thanks. d:h:

I have the VZ-58 or CZH-58 it's the same thing as 858 just shorter barrel and it's the best and cheapest weapon to get and easy to clean.

If it shoots straight just leave it alone. One of my 858s has the front sight all the way to the right and cranked up quite a bit. Looks odd but shoots just fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Lube, shoot, clean, lube, shoot, clean and on and on is all ya gotta do.

I called Moving Target numerous times a few weeks ago. They never picked up, I left voicemails, they never returned my calls. I tried again the next day and the voicemail message changed saying that they were closed until Thursday, and that they weren't accepting voicemails!

Pretty horrible service, in my experience, I ended up buying a 858 off the EE.

I hope someone at Moving Target reads this, and realizes they lost a sale.

I dont get the whole boiling water/super crazy cleaning regime thing. Mine is a truck/tractor gun, i treat it like a #####, feed it milsurp and WD-40 and it hasnt had a malfunction of any kind yet. It just runs. Accurate and cheap, cant complain.

I'd say that the WD40 is what's saving your gun.

I got caught up in all the hype about the corrosive ammo as well. I'd pour boiling water down the barrel every time I shot her, or plug the barrel and fill it (from the chamber end) with WD40. And then, after reading about those who never bothered cleaning their rifles with no ill effects, I tempted fate...

I didn't bother cleaning the rifle a month ago after a shooting session where the weather was particularly humid. Looked at the barrel a week later and almost died. It looked like a barrel from an old 1800's rifle. Tried a few passes with a brush/solvent, nothing. My barrel was scrapped, or so I thought.

Brought it out to the range a week later, now thoroughly disgusted with the gun (and myself). Figured I'd shoot a few "farewell" rounds then sell it for next to nothing on the EE. Lo & behold, after 10 rounds of commercial ammo, the bore was back to looking like new. Utopia!!!

Moral of the story; You can poo-poo the stuff about corrosive ammo, I never will. My 858's being shipped out this am to Rauch Tactical for their bore-coating & finishing process. Prolly be the smartest $120 I ever spent. ;)

Res/Non Res.....whats the diff?

Hello,

I am thinking of picking one of these up down the road but want to make sure its the NON-RES version. So to all those who know more than me out there, whats the difference?

1. Is it the barrel length? (longer on the non-res)

2. Folding vs fixed stock? (fixed on the non-res)

3. Both?

4. Anything else?

Thanks very much,

Coach

Only difference between the 858-2 and 858-4 is the barrel lenght for classification
