Hey fellas!!!! I'm now the proud daddy of a brand new Savage 93 BTVSS heavy barrel(the one with the laminate stock and thumbhole) in .17 HMR topped by a Bushnell Trophy 3.5-10x40 .....anyone has one like this that could tell me more about the accuracy of it ??? I simply can't wait to get it at the shooting club!

My brother owned that one, was capable of pretty decent accuracy for the price....but I don't think its in the same class as other precision .22s

EDIT: Oops....Totally missed the caliber, disregard the above, I was thinking .22

You just got yourself the best deal in term of .17 hmr quality/accuracy for the price. It shoots GREAT out of the box, and with a few adjustments it will soon shoot more accurate than you can do. It is WAY MORE ACCURATE than a .22! Good choice !

edited mine too onagoth :)

There are so many attributes to like about that rifle..:)...Accutrigger (sp?), the barrel, that lovely-looking stock....if (aw, c'mon, it's more like when :p) I ever purchase another bolt-action rimfire, I think it may just be a target-Savage....:yingyang:

I have that exact rifle, with the thumbhole and heavy barrel.

I love it to death. My best 5 shot groups have been 3/4" at 100 meters. Accurarate little gun, and I have heard lots of similar reviews.

Good choice!

I have that rifle and the same scope. I think you will find accuracy will fall off after 160 meters. You do pay a penalty for the shorter barrel compared to say a Ruger 77/17. Under 160, very accurate, Kevin M said 3/4" at 100, that should be no problem.
