New Deer Hunter. Question with Controlled Deer Hunt.

Today I got in the mail a thing for the controlled deer hunt. It gives me a week to go deer hunting. In that week do I have to use my deer tag? Or can I go out whenever in the season? If I shoot a deer outside the Controlled hunt, am I still elegeble to participate in it?

Ive never deer hunted, so I dont get it...

This item you recieved in the mail today is the validation tag for whatever contolled deer hunt you applied for.You can only hunt deer during the season stated on that tag. If you shoot a deer outside the controlled hunt you can still party hunt in the controlled hunt. You can still hunt during other open deer seasons but you may not have a game seal left for the controlled hunt. It probably would have been good idea to ask these questions before you applied for the tag.

Many of the areas with controlled hunts have additional tags available if you do use your original elsewhere. The additional tags are valid only for the controlled hunt though.
