When I built mine a few years back I went to the local paint dept. of the building supply store and picked up a couple gallons of really good solid stain that was custom mixed and then the wasn't picked up. Avocado Green, wouldn't have been my first choice but it was cheap at 10 bucks a gallon. Worked fine, blends in okay, and the deer seem to like Avocado Green.
