New Dominion Smokeless Powders

Typically when someone lists a load and says drop 10% and work up, it's from a Max load.

True, but if you're reloading a new bullet/powder combo and you look up the data in a reloading manual, do you start with the starting loads or maximum loads? You start (or should) with the, errrmm, starting loads.

This powder being similar but not canister grade powder will have some variance from the manuals listings, so the starting load for IMR4198 in .223 with a 40gr bullet (for an example) in the Nosler manual is 21.0gr, max is 23.0gr. With a powder that could be slightly faster, 21.0gr could be approaching a max load. In this case I'd personally start around 20gr and go from there.

With all that said, I'd bet money this D###x powder is going to be so close to the IMR stuff that most of us will notice very little, if any difference in burn rate.

I just wanted to clarify something. Is Dominion arms Canadaammos brand and is this powder made in Canada?
Dominion Arms is our line of guns, Dominion is our line of ammo/components. and yes, as stated above, it is made in Canada

I picked up 5lbs of the 4198. I have enough actual 800x for my needs for a long time. Hopefully a fast bullseye or titegroup type powder can be had soon...

D4350 would be great.

Just waiting for someone to ask for DARGET.

Lol! Too bad that's made in Australia. We may be able to get D4166 though...

I for one am extatic to hear about D4895! H4895 is such a versatile powder!!! You can load it down to 60% max published values and still get great performance for cast loads.

Main staple is all Hodgdon with Varget, H4350, H110 and Titegroup.
Currently only need DiteGroup.

Did it ever occur to anyone that the manufacturer might not want to (or might not be able to) sell their most popular powders at a lower price under a new name?

One could assume that any future powders will be OEM just as this stuff is so that is a non-issue.

Yes it is Oem so most will buy bulk, kegs or 10 pounds etc, bulk purchases are usually sold at a discount, we all win including the Manufacturer!

How often will you guys be able to get this powder? Next delivery date? The rifle powder is already sold out and I'm really interested!
