I just recently completed my last project (?) for 2008.
I’ve been hunting with a sporter 303 Brit but I wanted something in 308. So I was in the gun shop a few months ago and spotted this:
I’ve never seen one before but apparently they made Lee Enfields in 308.
So I decided to pick it up and make it into a sweet
deer rifle.
It took me about 6 weeks of work but I finally got it finished and here is how she looks…
Now mind you I had a few problems, first off it was a 42 Longbranch…
And the damn thing had a LB serial number, but also some other serial number on the bolt, barrel and receiver…?
It is the weirdest thing….anyhow, the registry certificate had the non LB number so I stuck with that. I definitely would not want to argue with anyone at the CFC as they know soooo much more than me J
I almost thought about keeping it pristine but some clown had cut off the bayonet lugs and put 7.62 on there?!?
So at least the barrel was parkerized, so I parked the rest of it after I had the gunsmith cut the barrel off and drill and tap the receiver for a scope.
Now the funny thing was, I think the guy that owned this thing was Loyd Brown or Charles Adams or something like that ‘cause there were LB’s and CA’s all over the damn thing…?!
Another thing was that some fool put this aluminum foil under the trigger guard on the forestock. It took me an hour to scrap that out…
And I hear these peep sights suck so I threw this one in the trash and can’t wait to put that Fitco scope to the test!
.
So what do you think?

This would have been great for April Fools!
