Salutations Gents,
Interested in hunting in general and doing so with Brno rifles in particular.
It seems that there are an abundance of Brno rifles that have been imported into Canada compared to the US…..during the Cold War there was a ban in place in the US of course.
In light of this, I hope to glean some gunsmithing advice on the models I currently own; ZG-47, 21 and 22. The ZGs are in .30-06 and a rebore from .30-06 to 9.3x62. The other two are small rings and both are in 7x57 Mauser. Over the years, I’ve probably owned a dozen or more of mixed ZG, M21, and M22 rifles.
Other hunting rifles I currently own are Winchester 70 stainless classic in .375 H&H, Husqvarna 649 in 9.3x62, Mannlicher Schoenauer 1903 in 6.5x54, and a Mannlicher Schoenauer GK 1952 in .30-06.
I’ve owned many others. But I’ve trimmed down quite a bit.
My late Uncle was a Canadian government forester based out of Vernon, BC who took me on several bush trips,(on foot and canoe), with him as a kid and young adult. So I’m fairly familiar with BC, Alberta, and the Yukon.
I have a place in Hollis, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island but work primarily in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. Although I’ve also done some pretty extensive government survey contracts in the Arctic; Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea.
At any rate, I appreciate being able to converse with my Canadian neighbors and hope to be of some benefit to this community.
Scott
