Well I got 2 new firearms (new to me), they have been in the family since new. The first one is a Savage model 1895 chambered in 303 savage, (anyone know where to get ammo for this?). I used savage99 website to date this firearm and it says 1902-1903. The second firearm is a Winchester Model 1892 chambered in 44WCF (44-40), I dated this firearm online to have been made in 1914.

Here is a few photos of the Savage.

Definitely going to have to reload for the 303 Savage. Brass is getting scarce though. Someone here will be able to tell you what you can use to size down to the 303 Savage likely. Have 2 99s and quite fond of them.

From what I recall, there is no longer any factory .303 savage being sold.
You will have to reload, and *I THINK* .303 SAV brass can be formed from 30-40 Krag.. Make sure you check that before going ahead and trying it. You can sometimes find brass that someone else has finished, but I am pretty sure it's pricey.
A friend has one and hunts with it.

Edit - I am seeing you can also form in from .220 Swift brass. You are just gonna have to do a lot of reading.

Good start. Save the brass and you're on your way!

Rem, Win, Federal, etc no longer make brass but smaller companies do. As mentioned, Epps can get it for you, or may have it in stock already.

I just picked up an 1892 myself; vintage 1896 and looks to be in similar condition exterior-wise as yours. Nice sharp bore, too.

Lucky you. Looks like someone painted the 92 SRC. Should be no trouble to remove that though. You can still pick up .303 Savage at gun shows, at least in the Maritimes.
