Does it have a one piece or two piece firing pin? you will need the proper firing pin spring as well or you`ll get slam fire with soft non military primers.

so privi is out then eh I was going to buy a bunch from canadaammo but I guess ill look elsewhere.
the only place I seen have military ammo was lever arms but they only do local pick ups
ps m have some Yugo 8x57 but it seems too light from what iv seen it should be 190s but im new to this caliber so ya Ill keep looking

so I complety forgot about bulleye and they got some s&b ammo is that any good I know its higher then the privi but i don't know if its high enough any thoughts

Privi 200gn 8mm Mauser worked just fine in my FN49. I had to open the gas port all the way. Makes me suspect the Privi is fairly hotly loaded. With the port fully open, I was still getting clean ejection of brass out to 10 feet or so.

Privi is loaded to the original military specs and can be called "hot" if compared with actual Remington's loading.
But it functions very well and is very good reloadable brass too. I use it in my Egyptian Hakim with, of course, a big chunk of poly foam on the case deflector...
When reloading for the 8mm autos, avoid anything slower than Bl-C2. All the powders currently used for the Garand works great with the FN. Varget is nice and so is AA-2520 too.
As for bullet weights, anything between 150 and 197 gr. is good, the piston driven FN isn't fussy and there's not a bending-prone op rod to watch for.
