just reading an article on ds arms, they are manufacturing new FN-FAL rifles, was just curious if there was a posibility that any of these rifles would make it our way? I could not find any information as to semi only, but DSarms website is manufaturing cali-legal rifles that are blocked to semi only, as I dont know to much about the FAL, i thought I would ask the experts what you guys thought.

Cheers!

The FN is prohibited by name (Order in Council). Unless the new version was very much different internally, it will be considered a "variant" of the original and will not be available. Even if it were different inside, it would have to be examined by RCMP techs to make that call. There is a .22 MP5 clone called the GSG-5, which is mechanically different from the centerfire HK gun, but it is still classed prohibited.

Bottom line: I wouldn't get my hopes up - but you never know.

Also P.S., I don't think you're allowed to post hotlinks up unless they are sponsors. The way around this is to space out the link such as w w w . website.com. Just letting you know, not coming down on you or anything :)

And this happend with the Skorpion? a Cz61 variant made it to restricted status in 2005. so, I think it is possible to get the new FNs to us without too much hastle.:shotgun:

Look newbie. the Skorpion got in on a technicality, basically Wolverine said the SMG was banned while there gun was a pistol and unrelated with the full-auto variant.

Sorry, NO FAL's, Not a chance.
These models are already listed on the FRT disk as prohibited.

I belive they go by DS arms "SA58" it is an FAL type rifle, if its not under the Fabrique National name and a different designation would it make any difference? would probably have to be made not to accept any of the origional parts right? or would it fall through another loophole? they didnt have much information on the reciver types, only that there is a california type one reciver and a type two reciver, but I could not find any info on the differences

The government has already issued there decision on the DSARMS rifles, prohibited. All parts interchange with the prohibited rifles and they are marketed as the same rifle as the one that is prohibited. Trust me this has already been thought of years ago.

Only maybes left are the FN-SCAR and the Keltec RFB;

Prohib is prohib guys, once it's listed (as the FN was from the start) it generally stays that way. The original OIC's were made law, so it's not like a sympathetic (Conservative) government can just wave a wand and make it disappear. In order to change this situation the Firearms Act would have to be thrown out entirely and replaced with something that makes sense. Which, while a really good idea, isn't on the table at the moment. If you're one of those guys who hasn't owned an FN, it could be worse - you could be one of those guys who used to own one and can't any more, or one of those guys who owns one and can't shoot it.

too bad one of the big importers didnt get a 'fal' look-alike made for those of us too young to have used one. fal look, fal wood, fal mags, action modified enough to pass an rcmp inspection. who ever has them made would have a real winner on their hands *hint*hint* especially if they were priced par with the m305's.

currton, you old fart, what you still doing up, is there a 'golden girls' marathon on? i thought i might sneak this by ya.

:Dahhh you 'old farts' would just complain it aint the real thing, and cry about the banana wood stocks right? for those of us who have never got to shoot a FAL, well we would be all over it like stink on a monkey.:dancingbanana:

as for starting the ball? i would love too if someone would let me fondle the real deal for a couple of hours to get some inspiration, then give me some money to have a machinist/gunsmith draw up what i want, and then pay my ticket to china to find someone to build it. too bad im broke, or id be on my way.

haha, i know im just half kidding, the market here is probly way to small to make it feasable, but im sure a non-restricted, or even restricted 'fake-fal' would be popular.

i wonder how far from the original one would have to deviate to get it by the rcmp?

nope , not golden gurls , its megan fox on transformers , i love seeing her for the dozen times .;)

wont hear me complain about the wood bcos i would basically replace every single parts with c1a1 parts except the barrel, receiver and lower .

yeah, our market a wee small , we need the US to come on board but they got a norinco ban so i wont be holding my breath .:(

remember guys.........The FN was banned as a result of the rash of bank robberies, murders and mass shootings that they were used in. ( note my sarcasm)

the first step in understanding any firearms law in Canada is that is does not have to make sense just make some douche bag feel good and powerful when the law comes in.

spirit of the law? ..........nobody cares.

that should set of alarm bells in the mind of a free thinker.
