Unlike FNP-9 and FNP-40, which come with a 4" barrel, the .45 version is 4.5". Cost-wise, FNP guns are generally priced competitively with M&P and Glock. U.S. availability is early 2008. Hopefully it will be available to us, meager Canucks, shortly thereafter. Who imports FN products into Canada, by the way? R. Nichols?

I didn't think I'd be buying another polymer gun anytime soon, but I must admit that the FNP looks pretty tempting. It's a nice looking piece, relatively inexpensive and is not DAO like most other plastics. Not to mention, FN has a reputation for building quality stuff. Might have to pick one up when it becomes available.

I was always interested in the FN P/Browning Pro series...and odded by their relative lack of popularity, but given the availability of many alternatives at competitive prices in the US, it is understandable.

Would be interesting to have it available to us.

I wondered the same thing. I think the lack of popularity is largely attributable to the limited marketing support that the gun has received. Browning was never interested in pushing this gun in the first place (and no longer sells it under its name) and FN is not a household name among American consumers.

Interesting looking pistol .... what does it do that any of the other countless competitors don't have though?

probably was developed for that .45 new US army sidearm project that was scrapped...I know the requirmant was 4.5in barrel (that's why M&P 45 has the longer 4.5in barrel)...

anyways I think it would look nice in 2-tone, but I haven't warmed to to .45 that much to get one in a plastic gun

All the new plastic guns looks the same! Kinda looks like a SIG, Taurus 24/7 and even M&P

There is a "guideline" about .45ACP and going lower than 4.5" barrels....ie it has nothing to do with military development but simple velocity.
