Sounds promising!

Interesting news. As a big fan of the nxs compact series I will be following this news closely. I am curious what they mean by "lightweight". The whole reason for buying a Nightforce scope is to get the strongest scope on the market, with rock solid clicks. To make them that tough, they are heavy.

I see a site sponsor has posted the info. 2-12x42 is 23 ounces. Not exactly "lightweight" but Nightforce isn't known for being lightweight. The old 2.5-10x32 were 19 oz, and the 2.5-10x42 were 20 oz, and well worth carrying an extra 8 oz over a leupold. Looks like a nice unit. No pricing yet but I bet it'll be around $2800?

Very keen on the 2-12. With either SFP reticle, that looks like the perfect all-around hunting scope across all reasonable hunting distances. Love how the turrets are capped by default, with the option of adding dialing later for those that partake. Also glad they didn't go ultralight either and kept it at a reassuring 23 oz.

Here's hoping they're within reach. I bought my NXS 3x15x50 in 2008 for $1500.00. If they can price the 2-12 under 2K, they will sell lots.

The 2-12x42's are $2484. No way you'll get a new NX6 2-12 scope for under $2000 in this day and age - even a LEUPOLD 2-12x42 in Canada today is $3800. So a new model NX6 for under $2500 is actually a VERY decent price.

Prices now on my website. For interest sake.... https://www.shootingwarehouse.com/products/nightforce-optics-nx-6-riflescopes

I did look at the new mil reticle in the 2-12.

From a quick glance it looks like a fine tree reticle but the stadia are fairly thick compared to similar reticles in 5-25 scopes for example when you actually look at the reticle specs.

Being that it goes down to 2 power. It’s probably still fairly fine though. I’d like to see bold crosshairs coming in to 5 mils windage and rising up to 10 mils elevation.

For hunting. Maybe 3 mils windage and 5 mils elevation would be adequate!

Or for hunting. Put it into a second focal plane would still be usable overall. They kept the moar in 2nd fp.

It’s also illuminated and has the circle in the center of the reticle which might be like a big bold dot at lower power.

I’m excited to see it myself.

☝️ I agree, and line thickness can be make it or break it when it comes to reticles.

I know with the ATACRs, reticles are thicker in the 4-16 vs 5-25, and I wonder if that will be further scaled with the NX6's?

I know I am in the minority, but I wish they would bring the IHR back...

Same, I don't know why they don't come up with a usable ffp hunting reticle.

What did you think of the Maven in that respect? I wanted to take that off your hands yesterday to see for myself but I am not a big fan of floating dots 😔

These are basically replacing the SHV & NXS lines of scopes and are supposed to have NX8 glass quality, albeit with different focal lengths, etc due to different tube size/length.

Will be interesting to hear some first hand reviews.

It was usable at 2.5x., I wouldve preffered the outter stadia to be a bit thicker. Of the scopes I've tried the Minox 3-15x50 MR2 and MR5 reticles are the best non-donut of death reticles I've used. The scopes are heavy though.

I think the reticles, compounded with the larger scope, longer, over 12" for the 2-12 and the fact that it is heavier than the same NXS one, PASS!!

I must say it was interesting enough to look at the details, but then a letdown. No thanks.

I’m looking forward to hands on reviews, especially against the VX6 2-12 vs the NX6 2-12 SFP with the 4A-i reticle.
I could be off but these two seem like they are natural competitors, at least for my dollars.
Comparing the two on paper shows some distinct differences even if they are extremely similar.
All the disappointment and hate of this line is lost on me though considering nobody has had hands on, to me for hunting they seem like they aren’t bad even given the complaints stated so far in this thread.

Love my 2.5x10x24 NXS scopes - I have three of them
Two with mil-dot reticle and one with the NP-R2 reticle.
One with capped turrets and two with exposed turrets.

Everything that I love about these scopes with just the right attributes of quality/price/features/size are missing in Nightforce's current line up.

They have definitely regressed imho.
