Any body else excited for the Vortex Strike Eagle due the summer? I really want a 1x-6x for my 3 gun riffle that doesn't break the bank. The Vortex Razor HD 1x-6x is over $2,000 I think so it's out of the question. The MSRP on the Strike Eagle is $429 US.

Vortex info:

STRIKE EAGLE 1-6X24 RIFLESCOPE
Speed and versatility—that’s what 1x variable optics offer AR shooters who need to engage targets from point-blank out to extended ranges. And that’s exactly what you’re going to get with Vortex’s new Strike Eagle 1-6 x 24. Take into consideration what it costs to get into this optic, and you may find you can’t afford not to buy it.
Whether you’re burning through a 3-Gun Stage, logging some range time, or holding for hair on a coyote you’ve duped into thinking you’re lunch, the Strike Eagle is up to the task. High-quality, fully multi-coated lenses deliver a clear, crisp sight picture and optimal low-light performance. A true one-power on the low end of its 6x zoom range provides quick target acquisition in close quarters scenarios. Need to engage targets at distance? Crank it up to 6x and let it rip.

My 60+yo eyes aren't what they used to be so my eye pupils open max to 5mm in low light condition.
At 6x that scope has EP (Exit Pupil) of only 4mm, so six power is to much of a good thing IMHO.
Any serious scope with more than four power should have a bell in front to maintain min 5mm EP with 6mm EP being optimum for younger fellows.
GR8 2c worth....

Why doesn't it have "AR" and ".223" all over it in huge letters? I thought that's what cheap black rifle optics had over cheap hunting scopes... Should be another underperformer in a field of underperformers.

You know if they put the word "leupold" on the side of that the haters would'nt hate....

I've only been reading the "optics" form off an don for the last 6-8 months and most of you guys have some good advice but there is a significant population of ass-clowns in here with serious tunnel vision...lol

I personally like the scope in question. Might even look at one.

But I am sure, someone who drives up to the gun shop in their BMW with their fifty $5000 target rifles is gonna be a hater....sigh.... back to my beer....

So, you dropped by to fling around some insults, and tell us all you like a scope you've never seen in your life.

Welcome to the optics forum.

You'd be sadly mistaken, some of us dislike Leupold as well, and for many of the same reasons as Vortex.

Have anyone actually handled one? I am not huge into 3 gunning but would not mind to try once or twice a year. Wonder if this is a good entry model for AR rifle?
Vortex gives life time warranty, they stand behind the product. What about Vortex Cantilever 30mm offset rings? Would that go well with that scope?
Thanks

I get a bit cynical on the subject of scopes at the sub $1,000 mark. They start to look really similar I think. Have a look at this Vortex and Primary Arms 1-6x24mm. The reticle are different, but the externals look really similar. Are they produced by one of the many factories in China, and have the commissioning company's logo added at the time of packaging?

Vortex: $500.
Primary Arms $400.
Leopold $700. and so on.........

I can see why people spend $1,500+ but it still hurts!

Candocad.

My issue is I hate bdc reticles. Reticle is essentially a waste on anything it's not calibrated for. Why can't we get a similar reticle that's mil based and I can do my own math and use it on anything I want.
Haters gonna hate, personally anything that gets more guys shooting for less is good, my only personal combing being the lack of a mil based reticle.
