I've taken my Dlask 870 8.5 inch out to the range for a few sessions. Very impressed with it, and alot of fun.

HOWEVER.....

I am NOT impressed with the fore-end. It looks cool, but there are two serious misgivings that make me question its use:

[1] The picatinny style rails - too damn sharp! Shooting this with anything but gloves, especially in cold weather when your skin is less pliable, is painful to say the least.

[2] The Strap - again, looks cool and different, but resulted in MULTIPLE jams and failures to feed. Why? Because the strap would interfere with the cycling of the gun by getting caught between the fore end and the end of the mag tube where it meets the action.

NOT GOOD in a stressful situation, especially if you are trying to get off a quick shot or two at an angry bruin at woods walking ranges!:slap:

My question is, are there any aftermarket fore ends that would fit this gun? (The fore end looks smaller in some regards to my other 870)

I would like a pistol grip fore end, or something that doesn't allow your supporting hand to creep in front of the barrel whilst firing. Any suggestions?:runaway:

if you hold the strap as per the pictures in joe's thread it wont bind. apply a bit of forward pressure to the rail. I shoot mine in pistol grip configuration and apply forward pressure to the foreend and backwards pressure to the rear.
You can get rail covers or fillers (which fill the gaps on the rails) -Dave's surplus & tactical has them.
one member on this site found an alternative foreend- forget the make now. Try Brownells . you could try a rail foreend but you may have to cut a notch from the bottom to fit .

Another alternative is to mount a section of picatinny rail to the Dlask foreend bottom and mount a pistol grip to that. See my avatar - it's not very visible but I have a folding foregrip. I bought the first 8.5 incher asnd it came with a mini rail foreend ( essentially 3 pieces of picatinny rail screwed to the circular part attached to the slide rails. I put rail fillers on the sides.

In a stressful situation, there may not be time to ensure you have the strap/sling properly utilized... A jam in any stressful situation could spell disaster... I second the vote to do away with the strap/sling on the front pump of your gun...

Drill out the rivets that hold on the rail and strap. Looks like it should be a normal fore end underneath the rails

If you really wanted a pistol grip fore grip you will have to get creative and do some chopping of parts and use a tube of JB weld, or some rivets.

Take some material off an after market pistol fore grip and attach the dlask stock pump arm too it.

Maybe BadBoyBeeson will comment in this thread. I thought he was considering making some of these fore-ends out of aluminum to fit the 8.5" shotguns:

No, it isn't mine. I lifted that photo link from another CGN thread (the one where CanadaAmmo announced their 8.5" and 12.5" shotguns). I was trying to find the thread where BBB was talking about possibly machining a replica of the MSC fore-end, but figured the above photo was close enough to illustrate what I would otherwise have to describe.

Machining an equivalent MCS grip would be EXPENSIVE unless you modeled it after a brick. There's a lot of contours and ops to consider...

Use a MP5K forward grip. They're only $65.

Or mount a stubby...They're even cheaper

I've been looking for a full length SpeedFeed stock with pistol grip and shot shell holders for so long now that I've almost given up. Anyone know where to find one in Canada?

I would think the strap helps the argument that it was designed to be fired with two hands, and is not a pistol.

It would not be as compact, but I would like to see a rail mounted pistol grip mounted on the side rail of the for grip, like the stubby sawedoff posted.
