NEW- Getting approval from parents

The biggest issue with them is safety. All I have to support my cause is the powder used is slow burning, unlike blackpowder which explodes.

A controlled backyard demonstration might be very valuable. You can say "it won't explode" but if you show that it won't explode, groundless fears can be arrested.

You can do this at home.;)

Not even close to being true Scott. Many "responsable" adults live in arrangements with parents/grand-parents/relatives. It's got to do with finances and that families values. Your values are different than others. Try and tell people of Asian or East Indian decent for example that they are less of a man because they stay with and help their family. Not everyone that is still at home is a mooching lazy scum that needs to be tossed from "the nest". There are a lot more family dynamics out there other than what you grew up with, open your eyes and don't be so judgmental.

In the uSA, smokeless powder is classified as a 'flamable solid' not an explosive. It was proven in court, by B.E. Hogdon, many years ago.
No I don't have a link to it, that was from memory.
What the guys are saying here is true, a can of gas, or most spray cans are more dangerous. Smokless does burn quite fast in the open, but doesn't explode, and doesn't aproach what happens if you put a match to black powder. (don't try it, while it usually just goes woof, black can explode, even in the open)
If you have a garage or shed, you could set up there, a promise to do so might get you in the door.
Buy safety glasses, and use them.
Good luck.
