New Girsan compact catastrophic failure

Back from the dead! I am not sure on the hogue grips... They are quite a bit wider and don't quite sit right on the bushings. I think i am going to drill out the holes in the grips so they seat around the bushings better.

Just an update seems the chamber bulged and it is now my girsan "killer of brass" and i have accuracy problems seemed ok at first. But after 100 rounds it was going wild on me not sure if it was the difference between the good ammo and the cheaper ammo or because it got warm.

Now i am looking for another barrel... Till then in the safe the killer of brass will remain.

That sucks, by the time your finished it might have been cheaper just to get a new one. I've looked at these before, but I'm a 1911 man, so Norinco feeds my habit.

Check with Girsan importer if they have a barrels available for sale. OR check US sites and have it imported my IRUNGUNS.

PS: as I'm sure you know you'd be looking for a (Beretta 92) compact barrel, regular model barrel will be sticking out too long.

Full size can be cut down to proper length...

a bulged chamber really won't have much impact on your accuracy. I'd get someone else to shoot it and see what it does. Also post some pics of the brass it's spitting out now so we can see what it looks like.
With the way the case failed, and the design of the gun, all the bad pressure got vented in the right direction. There should be no damage forward of that really.

There was about four of us who shot it and we all had better results when it was cold... First mag since it was put back together nearly all the holes in the paper where touching.

The ejecting brass is noticeably deformed on one side, gunsmith said that if i was lucky the brass might be reloadable a few times but to run a pick though them after they are clean to check for stress cracks. I will take a picture tomorrow of some brass in my calipers.

Please do, I've seen these types of blowouts with numerous guns, including one of my own. My Glock 19 was destroyed, but the metal frame guns I've seen just needed new grips and extractors
