My new GLOCK 17 gen 3 should arrive shortly.

Any tips for the break in or for a newbie GLOCK shooter?

I'm only going to shoot jacketed ammo due to the polygonal rifling.

Don't clean the copper colored lube Glock puts on at the factory off of the frame and slide. Just let it wear off by itself.

If you look at the barrel, you'll notice that the rifling isn't polygonal anymore.

The "no-lead" thing is a good diea, as Glocks can fire somewhat more out of battery than other pistols. I love glocks, but I don't shoot lead.

Have fun with it, bro! :)

You'll hear the following:
-They're made in Germany
-They shoot underwater
-They're constructed of poreclean and/or plastic
-They cost more than you make in a month (true for students like me, though haha)
-Go through metal detectors
-AD all the time, especially when dropped

Lots of contreversy surrounding them; that's why i want one.
Lube 'er up and shoot 'er out I guess.

What? No way! Really? I did not know that. Thanks, BD.

I wonder when the change took effect. :?:

I was never able to shoot them well , either my hand is too large or I was gripping it wrong but every time I fired the glock the recoil made me hit the mag release and the mag would hit the floor .Not a lot of fun. Bang -thud ,Bang-thud .....

They can be shot underwater reliably if you have that firing pin mod.
Very very dangerous unless you know exactly what you are doing.

what sort of tips would you suggest for firing under water? If its underwater, what else can you do to prevent a mishap?

Oh great guys. The wife'll think I've really snapped when she see's me shooting the GLOCK in our backyard swimming pool!

I think you guys are a BAD influence on me!

I've heard of a few deaths from people trying them out in their swimming pools.
The enclosed space amplifies the sound and can render you unconcious. Just don't put your head under the water and there shouldn't be a problem.

Even in the ocean, if a boat is close, the sound bounces off the boat and is quite a bit louder.
