New Glock 48 coming in January?

I believe California has a barrel length law now too.

Auggie D.

is it? I can't find anything on handgun barrel length. I find it odd that a US state would have a rule in mm, and the 4.17" seems, well odd for a length (vs 3.9, 4.2, etc)

I know some states do have limitations on rifles/handguns that ressemble (or are even stricter) than canada.

Most recently, NJ just passed a 10rd rifle magazine limit. The state does also have a limit on the handgun rounds in a magazine (10).

I've never seen a law in the US for handgun barrel length.. im still looking though.

Don't factor California into Glock's consideration. They have a list of handguns which are permitted in the state and none have been added to the list since 2013 or 2014 I believe, due to the onerous requirements (including micro-stamping of fired brass with a unique identified, which no handgun does). There are ways to get handguns introduced after and not on the list into the state but that's an involved process. Apparently LEO's can purchase handguns through their department and there are no rules about private transfers to civilians afterward, that's how people have been getting their hands on the G43 and Sig P365 for example.

Honestly I think the G48 is meant to address a few markets.. people with small hands that would normally have to get a 1911 for example, states with 10 round mag limits and my hunch is that the barrel length of 4.17" was to eliminate the need to have a different barrel length for the Canadian market. Multiple birds with one stone, so to speak.

I think it's wrong to underestimate situations like that of California and similar, especially with the likes of Washington State bill I-1639 that passed recently and looks to be the future of many of the blue states. Gun manufacturers are realizing they have to adapt to a more restrictive reality in these places. Not having the product like to match is going to hurt their bottom line so they're moving forward with options like this one.

I think the 106mm was for us actually, saves the the trouble of making the probably pain in the ass Canadian run* lol. Good for them tho!

*Since they have done that with a Glock 19x and Canadian g19

I know we are 1/10th the US population but could we be a growing market for Glock and other gun makers?

I wonder if the barrels are interchangeable between older G43 and G48. Guess we will find out soon enough.

Neat,

Been thinking of getting a little "compact" pistol in 9mm for a while. Been thinking of a Colt 9mm Commander but the prices are crazy. If these are priced similarly to other glocks I might have a good look at one. Ive also been tempted to get a glock for a while so this could hit both accounts.

Hopefully they come in all black. The Two tone is nice but not for me. Im thinking those are just unfinished pre-production guns?

Same here.

I've seen or read about G43X being offered in full black as an option (dont quote me, though) but G48 will come in "silver" slide only. IMO, maybe they will listen to people and make them with black slides later down the road.

No, these are not unfinished pre-production guns. These are retail.

It's official!

Glock has announced it:
