New Glock owner, any tips?

Tactical111 on here may be able to help you with some info on mods. He has one that's tweaked a bit..lol

lol is right, she's gone through so many changes, from modded to heavily modded, back to stock, over and over again. It's fun though.
Forgot you bought one Chalk.

As far as parts go, it's been such a long time, I'm not sure who can ship what or where anymore.
Anywho, enjoy the pistol OP, they're tanks.

Is there a place in Canada (or that will ship here) for Glock performance parts? Glockstore won't, and can't seem to find another place.. my google-fu is failing me!

I put an adjustable rear sight on mine. $25 on ebay. I needed it to make gun shoot POA. If yours shoots ok, no need for a sight change.

I took trigger apart and polished all the parts, as per a YouTube video. That helped. And then I changed a couple parts to get a lighter trigger. I liked that.

Do you have a pistol length cleaning rod? Put a bronze brush on it and give the barrel a few strokes after each session of shooting lead. This will prevent lead build up. I do this each time and can't say that I see more lead coming out than on the other pistols. Lead bullets in reloads are a lot cheaper.

Check out glockparts.com - Ordered some stuff from them a couple weeks ago. Good service. They got the order shipped same day. For $12 shipping I the order in my hands within 10 days.

The plastic sights eventually wear front sight gets thinner, rear sight can break off, and the dot-box pattern won't help you hit anything. So decent steel sights. Some folks with short thumbs, have an issue with the stock mag release, there are extended ones available. Beyond that, mags and ammo - lots and lots of ammo, and training - you'll get more out of a 2 day shooting course than you will out of 5,000 rounds, and you'll get more out of 5,000 rounds than you will out of a whole box of replacement parts.

Tip dont get sucked into to buying snake oil parts.

Biggest thing to remember with glock is dont stage the trigger. Take up the slack and fire with one smooth pull of the trigger.

Uh no... Taking up the slack is paramount to consistent trigger control. If you run the trigger the full length you are not able to work the reset which will result in slow follow up shots and degraded accuracy performance as you significantly influence the stability of the sight package with long two stage trigger pulls. The "wall" as its often called is a significant increase in resistance over the first 3/5th of trigger travel. That "wall" will disturb your sight picture when you hit it at speed if you mash the trigger its full length. The same can be said for the stop at the end of trigger travel. Take up the slack, break the shot, work the reset.
