New gloss scope option

Leica is offering the Fortis in a gloss finish this year. Very pretty! I imagine the price will be considerable but so to will be the optical quality.

Like most new scopes these days, this one is too heavy. The 1.8-12x42i is 24.7 oz. Way too heavy for a general purpose hunting-rifle scope.

I totally agree, nice looking scope but at that weight I’ll pass!

Does anybody who designs these scopes actually hunt? That kind of weight is ridiculous.

But, it would be nice to see a few more gloss-finish options on the market. If you're hunting with an older "classic" rifle in a nice gloss blue...there's no better way to ruin the look than by slapping a matte-finish scope on top of it, IMHO.

I hoard my older B&L and Leupold scopes, just in case another old-but-shiny rifle makes its way into the safe. Just recently picked up a nice older Sako and was very happy to have a scope that sits on top of it appropriately.
