New GSG STG 44

My STG may be a plinkster! but it is my plinkster and I enjoy plinking at 25-50 meters at cans, and not wearing ear defenders. Plus the ammo is so much cheaper than .223 for the other toys that are still in the locker.

The Blazer 'AK 47' lookalike was classified "prohib" because it resembles it's CF big brother. The S&W AR15 lookalike .22LR 'plinker' is "restricted. How did the rcmp miss the STG 44?

I have a .22LR conversion kit for my AR15 but I think I 'need' one of these .22LR "assault rifles".

Ah yes, the all knowing overlords of Canada, some of the most reasonable folks to ever walk the earth......idiots.

Yah ,better not mention the STG ! LOL

I will make a fine plinker indeed !!!!!!!!

Wish I had some spare cash right now (bought a few rifles over the holidays) as Cabelas has them on sale again...damn it !!!

Well I was in Cabelas yesterday and ended up coming home with this.....

I've been reading some good things about this rifle as far as accuracy and reliablity, and it's 25 round magazines are legal. Didn't really need another 22, but this looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

It IS a lot of fun!!

A buddy and me ran over 500 rounds through mine when it first went to the range last summer, with only 2 failures to feed in the first 100 rounds. After that, it ran like a top with bulk Federal and American Eagle ammo (38 + 40 gr lead nose and copper plated bullets).

The only "issue" I had with mine was that it was difficult to get 25 rounds into the magazines. I eventually said to hell with it and loaded 23. Be careful when you first strip it down, as the spring will likely drive some parts of the action out the rear!!(found that out the hard way :d).

Now I want MORE GSG products!!!

You guys are making me very very jealous!

I just love the look of that gun and 25 rounds (depending on how many you can squeeze in there) of pure fun.

I have read many reviews and have not seen one bad one as yet ,except of course for the tight squeeze with all 25 rounds if you casn get them all in.....but who care !

Oh I can hardly wait to get one.

Scoped mine due to the enormous population of ground squirrels. Very accurate. Im not worried about looks with it on. I had an older scope kickin around, put it on and it actually looks pretty cool. Plus my eyes are not like they used to be.

I saw they were on sale at Cabelas ,came pretty close to snagging one, perhaps later one day (well probably one day !!)

Very nice and well made ,I like it.

Wish they would bring the GSG MP-40 into Canada ,I would be all over that.

Nice score !!

Our all-knowing overlords at the RCMP Firearms Lab would immediately classify these as a "variant" of the actual MP38/MP40 and declare them prohibited, just like they did to the BD40 (or whatever it was called) because it's blowback operated, just like the originals. The StG44 was gas-operated, so the operating system of these .22's is different enough not to call it a variant.

Dammit......

My original mp 40 was prohibited because of the converted auto status. Those guns mp 38/40 were never prohibited by name so these new mp 40 22s have the same internals as the stg 44. These guns therefore have no reason to be classed as anything other than restricted because of the barrel 10 inches long. That's of course if they come in the original configuration. I too am waiting and expecting their arrival .
