After a lot of research, and lurking on other threads on here, my wife and I decided to get a new dog. We decided to go with a Brittany Spaniel. We wanted a dog for hunting, as well as a good family dog. We picked him up this weekend.

From the looks of things he's wanting to go hunt as much as I do!

He's only 15 weeks old right now. A couple more months and we'll be getting him trained, and ready to go for the fall.

Cool! Congrats on the new family member! I look forward to seeing pics from his first fall hunts! Good Luck!!!

Cheers

Congrats & good looking pup. I have a 1.5 yr old Britt, and he surprises me & my wife on regular basis with his smarts, wit and how great of a family dog he is. What kennel did you get him from?

Got him from Downnwinds Kennel. Got their name from a member here and after many lengthy phone calls we drove the 1400km round trip last weekend to go get him.

He is super smart for a pup. Just have to get the house training over with now! Lol

We had very few 'potty' accidents with our pup Nos. Anytime he changed activity, we picked him up & took him outside. When he did #1 or 2, we said "Go Pee"...

Anytime he was unsupervised, he was crated. Keep in mind that a pup can only hold it about an hour for each month of age... So, Nos did have 'accidents' on the tile when we were not home & he could not be crated due to time limits... But, in my mind, those don't count...

And, in short order, we had a pup sitting at the door looking at us & asking to be let out into the fenced backyard.

It took lots of attention at first, but paid off HUGE in just how quickly Nos was housetrained.

Jay;

We're pretty much doing the same thing. Any time he goes from rest to wanting to play, we take him outside first. Even when he has an accident I really don't mind, as it's like one sheet of paper towel to clean it up, as opposed to half a roll our old dog used to take, hahaha!

I can't wait for the fall! :D He loves the woods. I'm just waiting for the snow to melt to really let him run out in the bush
