I hope to have my new np22 within the next little while and am wondering about how to clean it when it comes i assume it will be packed in grease will a simple field strip and clean be sufficent or do i need to get some degreaser and use it and if i do what would be a good way to go about it

Where is this gun coming from? Any of the new guns I ever bought had a light oil on them that cleans up with any commercially available gun cleaner or cleaner/lubricant.

NP 22's are only slightly oiled and can be cleaned very easily.
and ready to shoot. If you shoot them in cold to very cold weather
powdered graphite is best, if not, use any gun oil that does not
"gum" up in sub cero weather.
Wipe the slide outer surface rigorously and several times until the
"brownish colour" from the rag disappears for good. That's from the blueing
process, because many manufacturers do not boil the parts
in a soluble oil bath as before. ( they used to)
