Quick question, I just bought a firearm and would like to take it to the range for some shooting. Can I take it to the range even though the registration certificate hasn't come from CFC yet ?

cheers

I have the receipt with the model, make and approved status with the receipt from the dealer. This should be good enough I guees ?

thanks

You should have the rifle trigger locked and transported in the trunk of your vehicle. Inside a locked hardcase is even better just in case you're stopped.

Take the gun apart and put each piece into its own locable case. Then chain all the cases to the seatbelt teather in your car and then cover it all with a dark blanket. The ammo should be locked into a seporate case and then locked again inside a trailer that is chain locked to the CFC approved hitch on the back of your vehicle. The vehicle itself must have a GPS tracking system operating in it. If you do all this, you should be safe from being arrested for the arsenal you are transporting to the range. Just to be sure, call the police before you go to the range and provide them with your itinerary and intended route.

:D

Actually I have this issue too. I have a handgun, and have an ATT issued and in my posession. However...I think I'm supposed to have some kind of registration sheet and I don't have that. Do I need it to go to the range? Its unclear how I got an ATT issued but no registration yet.

Side Note: The ATT is awkward, its like 3 pieces of paper with all kinds of dead white space. WTB much better license printing, maybe all on one page please. Hopefully they will scrap the ATT system and just combine it with the license itself.

Awesome, love the absurdity!:D

"...have an ATT issued..." A Short Term ATT is issued to take your handgun home from the shop. If your's doesn't say on it 'to an approved range', you have a Short Term ATT. Doesn't let you go shooting.
"...all kinds of dead white space..." Government is full of that.
"...Hopefully they will scrap the ATT system..." Won't happen.
