Greetings fellow enthusiasts,
after looking over this site I am very impressed and I can see why it would be addictive. I would consider myself a beginner collector with my first safe just reaching capacity. I've sent the request for inclusion to the Equipment Exchange forum and am looking forward to filling safe #2. I would like to sell a S&W .357 and would like to hear from the experienced people on this site about the proper way to handle this transaction with regards to transportation and transfer of title when it sells. I have purchased non-restricted rifles, but never sold a restricted handgun. Any experience's whether positive or negative would be appreciated to avoid any pitfalls.

Looking forward to my CGN addiction!
Best regards to all!

Hello and welcome. What you probably should do -- to maximize responses -- is post this kind of question in the General Firearms Discussion forum. My two cents worth is that whatever any of tells you, it's not the same as what Canada Firearms Centre will say. If you call them at 800-731-4000 (and wait through their interminable wait times) , you can talk with one of the clerks there who can give you all the details, and that advice will be official. They don't know much about guns, really (they've got experts to handle that), but they know how to operate their computers. As far as posting it on the EE goes, you can see what others have done. But again, questions like that will get answered by more and better than I can, on the General Firearms Discussion forum. Enjoy the site.

1) Post the gun in the EE
2) When you get a I'll take it mark the gun "sold pending funds"
3) Recive payment first and then contact the CFC for the transfer. The transfer may take between 1 and 14 days depending which province the buyer is from. (1 days for western provinces and sometimes two weeks for Ontario.) If the buyer has an excellent trader rating (over 10) you could probably trust him and start the transfer before reciving payment.
4) Once the transfer is approved you need a STATT to take it to the post office. Mail the gun as normal.
5) That's it.
