Hey, just got my RPAL and I'm looking for a shooting range in Montreal. The only one I found was CRAFM, but it's kind of expensive ($400/year). I'm also looking for a place that sells cheap reloaded ammo in Montreal so I don't have to pay for shipping. Thanks a lot.

Yea is crazy pricy. I'm not renewing my membership their when it expires next month. There is another option on the island but its not a whole lot better. My next membership will be Off-island and ill put that savings towards purchasing reloading equipment. Welcome to the forum.

Not much in terms of options in Montreal. I think there was one in Lachine. Have you checked Lachine? The West Island has a shooting range small, part time only evenings and only senoirs shoot centerfire.

CRAFM prices reflect a sad truth in Montreal that they are basically the only ones and the cost of maintaining the business is becoming very expensive in Quebec. Double taxation duplication of the bureaucracy thank you provincial government.

As for Ammo try Canada Ammo they are a sponsor free shipping and the price is good.

There are like 3 companies advertised on the internet that reload in Quebec non are in Montreal and I never tried to do business with them besides the price of new chinese ammo is the same so why buy reloads.

Welcome to the sport...

Besides the price, how's the place? the staff?
I'm waiting for my RPAL and am torn between CRAFM and CTVSP .. the latter is cheaper but keep hearing ppl would rather pay 100$ xtra for CRAFM

The one in Lachine is CTVSP right? It's $100 cheaper I think, but people say that the place sucks, so I don't know if it's worth the "rebate". I mean, $300 is still a lot.

As for ammo, I didn't find any Chinese 9mm for sale, so I don't think they have any, which means that I'm stuck with reloaded ammo. CAnadaammo.com doesn't sell cheap 9mm (Chinese or reloaded); they're all >250 per 1000, and they're always out of stock anyways :(. So yeah, free shipping doesn't do me any good if their product is more expensive.

I go to CRAFM but as yet havent joined just pay as i go 25.00 a visit i know will pay more eventually probably
but damn thats a pricey tag in
As for the place awesome great facility nice people could use a bit more RO s on duty more often
i have on several occasions had to say something to another person concerning their unsafe actions on the line or behind it.
But hey nothings perfect
In better weather or when im feeling daring i go to saint jacques outdoor range really nice and super cheap 130.00 a year for non restricted its called A.C.P.L

The place is nice/clean/modern. Nice selection of restricted stuff. Very little non restricted. Staff is friendly. Ammo is pricy. I'd go here over CTVSP. 2013 I'm gonna try an outdoor range for a few reasons. I'm more into non restricted rifles and their indoor range has a range of 50m. If you ever order something from CRAFM get a quote in writing before placing order. I ended up paying about 2x original price given for a barrel I ordered. Not saying this happens often but it did happen on my one and only order with them.

Add 75$ to their membership fee for law 9 course. (Other reason I'm going elsewhere since I don't shoot restricted and don't need that extra expense)

Members are veeeery friendly as well. They can always sniff out a noob, and many try to help and let you try out their Guns. I have to check if my membership is expired (I haven't been in like 8 months or more with new baby/house purchase/renovations/crazy work hours etc) let me know if you want to pay them a visit. Cheers

Edit: Membership expired last week :(

Congrats on the new baby! just had my third 2 weeks ago.
Gonna drive down for a visit as soon as I get my RPAL.. already been to CTVSP and am eager to see what CRAFM is like.. expecting MUCH better
Honestly i don't even know if I'll be able go to the range as often as I would like which is why it pains me to have to dish out $400 (+tax?). But that's what it is and in the end it's a hobby and there's never a price tag on that

I have never been to CTVSP but yes I guess that was the place I was referring you to. Unfortunately there isn't much choice to choose from in Montreal.

As for Ammo, forgive me I didn't know CanadaAmmo was out of stock.

If you find a source that has better pricing including shipping please share with us as we are all trying to find a better bargain.

Here is an idea is there enough interest to open a shooting range in the middle of the city downtown?

The rent would be high membership would be 500+.

It would definitely help many city slickers.

CRAFM is a nice range, Staff is friendly, prices are similar to what everyone else is charging for their guns. I go to CTVSP and L'Acadie for the price of crafm (at the moment). I am there to shoot not stay the night so as long as people are safe and take the rules seriously i am good, bed side manner is irrelevant to me. I can tell you CTVSP has reloads their guest fee is $10 and free for ladies all the time, rentals are $10 I believe CRAFM is $25 for guests and $25 rentals. On the plus side CRAFM you can shoot rifle there and CTVSP is pistol only, thats why i go to L'Acadie for rifle and Trap could do pistol there too but not a winter person. so weigh out the pros and cons for you i gave you some of my thoughts. ctvsp is $260 plus tax and crafm is 389.99 plus tax its your money think about it. nothing says you have to stay at either when renewal comes around.

Try this one

There is another in Montreal it's called CTVSP in Lachine. Club de Tir de Ville Saint Pierre.

Check out Combat Masters (Alberta). They have good prices on bulk refurbished ammo, they might ship interprovincial as well...

Our favourite deal in Calgary for "range membership" is to get an "associate membership" for about $80 which qualifies you to own restricted firearms. You can do drop-in where and when you like (with a province wide ATT) until you find a range that suits your style and budget.

Hey,

DELETED

Also, about cheap reloaded ammo, les Industries Centaure Ltée. in Laval (1234 av. Godin; right off Pie-IX bridge) sell high quality handgun reloaded ammunition. If it's your first time, they'll sell you a sample so you can test them, but they only sell ammunition by boxes of 1,000 rounds.

If you need any other info, don't hesitate to PM me :)

Hey,

I'm from Laval, and am a member at CRAFM as well. I have never been to CTVSP either, but like other members have posted, I have only heard bad things :(

Any idea how much it cost for 1000 rounds of 9mm? Thanks.

If they beat 25 cents the round that sounds quite interesting.

Yeah the membership at CRAFM is expensive but so are guns and ammo. You can shoot rifles and pistols and it's indoor in a convenient location. The price is kind of worth it if you live on the island. If you live off island, maybe not, I wouldn't know what ranges are out there.
